If you're looking at this poll I assume you would already know this but for those that don't quick review. M50x vs M40x vs M30x vs M30x.
M50x:
Pros (there's ton of pros but I'm mostly just thinking about the pros that the other headphones don't have) 90 degree swivel in both directions and removable cables with 3 choices.
Cons: They lean couple decibels towards the lows (base) I know some people like this but I personally don't (I like my headphones to sound as neutral/flat as possible). Now don't get me wrong the M50x do a great job of not totally sacrificing the highs and mids but as always in any headphone that leans toward a certain sound range there is going to be a little bit of reining in done on the other frequencies.
M40x: Pros 90 degree swivel in direction and 15 degrees in the other direction. Super flat/natural/neutral sound with no tweaking whatsoever. Removable cable with two options.
Cons: In the inward direction the ear-cups only swivel 15 degrees.
Anyway just wanted to get this out their to those people who have head a lot of great things about the M50xs but aren't baseheads and prefer a more natural, neutral sound. Plus they're $60 cheaper and in my opinion you're really not going to notice that extra 75 degrees in the ear-cups .
Seems like the massdrop crew is having trouble with a supplier that would be willing to drop ATH-M50X for 50% of their MSRP since they are well in demand for more then 1000 units on different polls here. Lets hope for the best.
