Agreed, 1.7k votes on the Intel core i7 4790k is 850% more votes than required. The manufacturer is also probably more willing to lower prices to clear inventory with Skylake processors on the horizon.
If they can meet or exceed Microcenter's price these will sell like hotcakes, and if that is the case I only hope that they can secure enough for the demand.
I recently did a review and benchmarks on 2 EVGA gtx 970 SSC vs a EVGA Titan X and 980 Ti hybrid. You'd be surprised at how those 970's held up! Nearly neck to neck in all tests.
