Soylent has a back order of 5-6 months through default channels. A group buy you're looking at more than that.
Soylent Green is people!
Ew.
It's people, people.
I've made soylent before using the DIY Soylent site.( See http://diy.soylent.me/recipes ) and there's definitely a learning curve to figuring out the best mix nutritionally vs. cost per meal. After about 2 months I stopped using it because, I started to use it more as a meal supplement and found that you are just as well off picking up any meal-replacement shake (or even a GNC sport shake) for that matter. I think many people start with the mentality that you can be a Zuckerberg/Musk type with a no time for meals techie attitude. I assure you that will pass and a sandwich will magically appear in your hands once again. (Not my intent to dissuade anyone from trying or take away from those who actively use and stand by Soylent. It is just my own opinion and experience)
I've been using Soylent for a short while and I really like it. I use it to replace my most rushed meals, where I wouldn't be having a nice social experience anyway. (breakfast most days, lunch others, sometimes small between-meal snacks)
They've been slowly ramping up production to meet demand, but they're still backlogged. I think their bottleneck is production, not fulfillment, so I don't see any reason they'd want to do a drop.
I'm very interested in this concept, but can't commit to a big monthly subscription. Let's start with 7 bags as a trial.
I was part of the first backers for this stuff about a year ago and I still haven't received anything.
It's a shame they spoil this decent blend by putting sucralose in it (aka splenda). That stuff is worse for you than straight up cane sugar. It exacerbates issues with blood sugar stability, anxiety and depression for many people. Stay clear of it unless you have had it in large amounts in the past without issue.

On the soylent nutrition information page it does indeed list sucralose: http://www.soylent.me/#nutrition
I would assume they are under the (already well padded) FDA limits, but seeing as you could potentially eat soylent for every meal every day, I shot off an email to confirm the amount.
On a sidenote, andy you could have checked the nutritional information yourself, it took me all of 10 seconds to read the list...

Thanks, but I was referring to the part about:
>That stuff is worse for you than straight up cane sugar. It exacerbates issues with blood sugar stability, anxiety and depression for many people. Stay clear of it unless you have had it in large amounts in the past without issue.
Just doing a quick search 'Sucralose and depression,' the sources and claims don't look like the most reliable. One of the same authors that says Suralose is bad also claims that MSG is a killer, [1] which is simply not true.
I'm not denying that there is no Suralose in Soylent, there is, but "exacerbates x,y, and z" is something that should be backed up.

Would it be able to be shipped to Canada and received faster than waiting for the official international date?
Who the hell would name their product Soylent?

I read an article on Ars Techica about this. It was supposed to be kinda humorous, but also to evoke your exact response. Get's people talking.

Someone with a sense of humour, clearly.
I would love to get this but it has to ship internationally. None of this "US Orders Only" crap.
Hmm. Amount of carbs per serving 84g, minus 9g for the fiber = net 73g. If you are diabetic (like me), a diet of this stuff will fuck you up badly. Even a single meal is a bad idea. If you are a foodie (like, again, me) this stuff makes no sense whatever. FOr those of you that are interested, go you - I hope you get low prices. It's so not for me though.
I have been living off of homemade Soylent for a few weeks and I have to say it is really nice if you want a cheap healthy food source.
Why do you people want to eat other people?
I actually preordered some from the official site, but still looking at a few months before they ship internationally... if MassDrop were able to get it out sooner, I'd definitely buy some from here.
