Oh, lets just load up every damn shoe in the universe and take a damn vote, shall we? Look, if you're going to take a vote, how about we narrow the field first? There's a reason why you're not going to see 25 people running for Governor next time your state holds an election--it's too damn confusing. Lets keep these polls simple, so we can develop a clear winner, wud'ya say?
Man, the icebug zeal, while marketed as an ocr shoe, is insanely good as a backpacking/ultralight shoe. Grip, excellent upper and lower materials (upper is Kevlar, I believe?), and a nice instep plate.
1. can someone please remove the duplicates? 2. trail running + ul backpacking shoes are two different things entirely and making this poll into a yard sale
my votes are going in for trail running shoes, meant to run fast with minimal drop carrying nearly nothing. You might use those for fastpacking too, but not for UL backpacking, which should be a different poll.

oh i agree on trail running + hiking, but not backpacking
A nice feature to have here would be to downvote. Submissions downvotes past a threshold and then collapsed and not shown by default. Reddit has ruined me here a bit because it's so much more democratic to also "vote things off the island"... Looking at you Lems Boulder Boot and Oboz Sawtooth.
At the very least you could have some additional moderator controls to filter out options that clearly don't fit with the vote.
I notice that sucony peregrine 5 is right up there, but why? it's been superseded already by the peregrine 6 and 7? Can massdrop even find any peregrine 5 to buy?
Um, aren't trail running and ultralight backpacking two different things? I don't run trails, I backpack, but from what I've read (had to do some research when switching from boots to shoes), and I've read pretty extensively, trail runners are looking for something less rigid/more flexible with less concern for toe and heel protection than a lightweight backpacker would be looking for and that's exactly what I'm seeing here listed as "Trail running shoes". The backpacker's going to be looking for something with a more solid shank, more aggressive sole pattern and more toe and heel protection. I think we're comparing a Macintosh to a Granny Smith, here, but that didn't stop me from pushing my Oboz. Solid soles, good traction and grip (ya, they're two different things) and the wider toe box fits my funky feet while keeping my heels solidly in place. They make a waterproof version as well. AND there's a cool little map on the bottom if you look closely. Not sure where it is, but it's kinda fun now and then to toss a shoe to a backpacking buddy and ask him to try to identify the location.

yes I agree. two different types of shoe. I'm not going backpacking with trail runners. I'm not on the cross country team!

Shoes are personal, but I love backpacking in my Minimus 10v2s. I don't want a solid shank, or toe protection, I want a comfortable, flexible, light weight, quick drying shoe, and trail runners fit the bill.
Please bring some New Balance 10v3 if possible. Just awesome shoes but have trouble finding them. Counting on you Massdrop!
La Sportiva Bushido, an amazing shoe. Ran my first gnarly Ultra in it then went hiking in the same shoe a week or three after. Amazingly versatile, astonishingly grippy and looks fantastic. 100% would recommend.
