I've bought tons of stuff from Lawson's....i think I've bought over 50 (not exaggerating) of the burly for me and my friends. In fact, I'm waiting on a spool of his guyline to arrive tomorrow! Shepherd's hooks are the way to go unless you're in sand or snow....in mud or loose soil, I'll cross two over and still lighter than the V's. Plus, they make excellent pot stands and meat skewers.
I too use the msr ground hogs. Even in moist ground and high winds, the three sides pegs hold firm. With larger surface area at the head, they are also more easily driven into the ground by stepping on them with your boot.
Having gone through a few lightweight Ti stakes, my preference now is for thicker pegs. And I think a shepherd's hook makes the guyline more secure in high winds, so I've added Lawson Equipment Ti Burly stakes.
Just used the MiniGroundhog Stakes - MSR on a winter camping trip, one bent due to the hard ground however they are light and held my tarp with no problem.
