Product Description
Sourced from mills in Kaihara, Japan, all of the denim used by 12oz Denim Lab weighs at least (you guessed it) 12 ounces. The raw material itself makes a convincing case, but the good folks at Los Angeles-based 12oz Denim Lab gave each bit of fabric a unique indigo dye and a light washing, resulting in semi-raw denim that can be cleaned as much as you need Read More

Enhancing certain spots sounds like what some people do to their jeans; they pinched for sharp creases and took sandpaper to it. From the pics, it does feel that way.
The allure of raw denim is gradual wear and tear, the process and changes through wear. The sick fadez was a bonus (mostly). For people who don't have the time for that, there are washed versions, obviously. Introducing wear spots on a brand new pair kinda defeats the fun doesn't it? And people got called out for that. Snobby yes, as is common in these types of hobby circles, but why pay so much for a pair of jeans, just to, ahem, sand it down and weaken the fabric? I'd hit the mall and grab something more easy on the wallet.

Hey all note from 12oz Denim- First off thanks for checking out the jeans. We want to inform the readers more about our brand and the philosophy behind it.
We are a premium mens line that only uses Japanese denim (from mills such as Kaihara, Kurabo, etc.) to hand cut, sew and wash every pair here in the United States. We are proud to support our country and bear the Made in USA label, it allows us to maintain the highest production quality and focus to detail.
As to the semi-raw wash, it does exist! We have a special process of enhancing certain spots within the pair while keeping parts of the jean completely raw and free from an initial washing. This process allows the jeans to fade more quickly in the weathered spots while molding to the owners frame.
Also the contemporary fits we provide in our skinny and straight are very different from the standard 5 pocket boxy fit you get with most raw denim. We have been producing the line in Los Angeles and have a great following with stylists and denim heads alike and hope to make fans out of you.
Thanks to the Mass Drop community for getting us involved!

cawpinThe cotton is sourced in Kaihara, then shipped to the US to be assembled into jeans. A lot of denim companies do this.

cawpinNot to defend the guys pretending to be raw denim, but for this point at least all this means is the denim is imported from japan then cut, sewn and constructed in the usa, like Naked and Famous does in Canada

I should add that there is no such thing as semi raw. That's like being semi pregnant. This is washed denim.

plachanceYeah, what the hell, lol. Call it what it is, don't ride on the "hype", jeez. Besides, the highly contrasted, artificial fades are really bad, I like to call them lightsaber fades.
