M.2 is a form factor, and since the description never says this is an NVMe drive, yall kinda crazy for assuming it is. especially when the speed listed are regular SATA speeds. Also, $83/TB is AN EFIN STEAL for SATA drives using TLC! Edit for reference, lowest stuff recently from the buildapcsales subreddit: 1TB MX500, quality SATA SSD - $100 1TB 660p, budget NVMe SSD - $120 1TB SX8200 & EX920, quality NVMe -$150

weeweeInteresting numbers, but it's worth noting that none of the prices you're comparing to are for M.2 SATA III drives. If you compare apples to apples, the cheapest M.2 SATA III drive (from a cursory googling at least) appears to be the WDS100T2B0B, going for $125.99 at Newegg.

weeweeAmazon has the smaller sizes for cheaper, but the 1TB is indeed a deal. As you say though, unfortunately uses SATA, not NVMe.

BUYER BEWARE, THIS IS NOT A NVMe, THIS IS SATA 3, SPEEDS ARE NO FASTER THAN A TYPICAL SSD Massdrop has some poor pricing on this item, you can get this item on amazon for $21 cheaper, the only version that is worth anything is the 1TB version, it is cheaper here. I hate to be the person that says dont buy it here, but the price difference is 33% higher here, which is really poor for the community.

CrimeSceneKittyWhy would you say "buyer beware" for a product that is not being advertised to be an NVME drive? Even if you wanted one, it doesn't go in just any M.2 slot.

psicloneBecause people forget, hell I build computers for a living and I still forget that M.2 does not always mean NVMe.

Another US only BS inching closer to unsubscribing and advising the friends I brought to MD to do the same

Mail forwarding is the proper term. Sure, it's possible but it adds headache and cost like storage fees and such.

As usual, MD omits important info from title/description, like the fact this drive is SATA3, not NVMe. Price is attractive on 1tb, not so much on 256.

Your advice was not requested or needed. I certainly don't need to be reminded to double check the facts that MD posts. The issue here is that MD habitually provides inaccurate and incomplete information on its drops. If you don't get that, well, that's YOUR problem.

AnzialNo need to get emotional. My response is no less required that yours here (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/antlion-modmic-4/talk/83375). Just pointing out that it's on the buyer to read the information and do informative research, thus my comment to all here (not just you), that while the information here SHOULD be accurate, buyers should also do the research, as often times people make assumptions about these things without actually looking it up. I agreed with you on the mis-information, so there's literally no problem.

All drives are fast; it's not a swift drive.

Y'all acting like NVME and SATA is a big difference for the average user. You won't see a difference in boot times or game loading times between the two types of SSD. You only see the benefits in certain professional workloads. About the 1tb model($83 when I purchased the drop), it's around the same price as cheapest 500gb NVME drives. No cable management and cheaper compared to 2.5" sata 1tb drives and backwards compatible via adapter. Basically there's NO REASON NOT TO BUY THIS. Bought one to use as a game drive in my desktop.

If you're going for the 1TB capacity, and you understand that this is SATA M.2 and not NVMe, this is your deal.

I don't even need extra storage right now but the price on the 1 tb model was too good to pass up.

Is there a way to tell what a drop’s limit is? I was on my way to cancel my order (with multiple days left on the drop) when the drop abruptly ended. There was no notice on what item limit the drop had, which is ludicrous. That should be mandatory to aid people who may want to cancel, so that they aren’t taken by surprise when the drop ends early.

GriffinAnonI'll buy it from you, I was going to buy but like you said, the drop ended abruptly which was odd. Last I checked was two days ago and the end date was four days left.
