Combining a couple of comments into a review:
These are fantastic shoes, they usually last me about 2 years for disc golfing, keep my feet dry and are light weight. They are still usable after two years, just not optimal due to wear on the sole. Even after a couple of years they maintain their water proof qualities. Great hikers and all around outdoor shoes. Wasted on pavement or cement.
These are very light, grippy(especially when new) and dry. They don't offer a lot of thermal protection so sometimes when they are wet you will get some cold transfer that may make you think your feet are wet, when really they are just cold. The only time I have had them wet on the inside is when I went up to my knees in a pond looking for my disc. I don't clean mine. I'm told that the waterproof quality will wear off over time, but it hasn't happened to me yet, and I retire mine after the second season. As for support, I'll just say that I feel confident in mine, but I also run a pair of mids for the hill country. If you have Scottish ankles you should be fine, otherwise your mileage may vary.
I like everything about the shoes except the tie system or whatever Adidas calls it. There'should be a better way to tuck the laces once the shoes are tightened down. Terrain and ground vegetation tugs and tears at the laces and clasp with this design. Adidas can do better.
I live in Seattle, where it rains all winter. I only purchase waterproof shoes for winter use, so I purchased two pair when these dropped. Most days, I find myself wearing one pair or the other. I like the speed lacing much more than I expected, though I had to shorten the laces. They're comfortable, waterproof, and reasonably priced. What more can I expect?
KLHinMTThanks for the review. I wish more people said how stiff the shoes they rate are. Some prefer more flexible, I like them stiff. Cushioned, but stiff in the forefoot.
These are perfect shoes for disc golf, with excellent grip (even with wet) and durable construction. The Gore-Tex waterproofing makes them ideal for wet and mucky rounds in the PNW. I'd say they're also good for hiking, but the sole is pretty stiff.
The pair I received was not true to size. Tried to make them work for about a dozen short hikes after stretching them a bit and removing the insole on the left shoe . I wouldn't buy these again.
