Why the fuck does shipping seem to be like splitting an atom for these people. Nobody wants a three paragraph email saying they'll be shipped in a month, we heard vendor, gonna be a little longer, some will be shipped next week, etc. Justin ship the fuckin thing like every other retail store on the internet. Jesus Christ on a popsicle stick!!!!!!'

This bag was really disappointing. I bought the bright orange for use with my Search & Rescue unit. On first use during deployment, the seam at the zipper ripped apart creating 5" wide hole. Rendered it useless for protecting anything from the rain.

a-non-y-mousUpdate: After exchanging pictures with customer service, they sent a replacement and a return label for the busted original. Customer Service rep said they've sold hundreds of these and this is the first report they've received of the seam ripping apart, so maybe I just got unlucky.
New one survived a round-trip flight with connections, and being filled to the brim. Little bit of reassurance there. It still appears to be just a single lock stitch around the zipper, which is a cheap stitch for an area that gets a decent amount of stress applied to it. I'm planning on reinforcing it with a stretch triple straight stitch so I've got some peace of mind.

Seam ripped where handle attaches to bag. The construction is not robust for expected applications. It’s pretty disappointing, I would not recommend this bag.

Max8Have you contacted customer service to see what they would do? Heard they’re one of the best.

Backcountry36Sounds like I'm not the only one this happened to. Customer service is fine - they'll replace the bag if you send in pictures of the damage. To buy or not to buy because of that depends on your priority.
I'd rather pay more money for the bag that never rips, than get a replacement for the bag that ripped when I needed it not to.

Can anyone compare these to The North Face and Patagonia duffels? It's less than half the price, but what about durability, water resistance, and warranty?

I bought this bag in the last drop and have had a chance to use it a couple times since. I absolutely love it for car camping. Let's me pack up all my clothing and not have to worry about getting stuff soaked - no more putting ziplock bags around everything!
It is big. It's not light. But it is weather resistant and exactly what I was looking for. I'd recommend it.

BigCso I just received the bag today and did see that it is well made and decent size... but as someone noted below, there's the same material around the whole bag and it's not double layered or reinforced for the bottom.
do you have an issue with this at all in your travels?

thefeevI haven't any issues so far. I mainly use it in place of a duffel bag most of the time - and when I was camping most weekends this summer it held up well. I wasn't really hiking with it or moving it much - trunk to tent for the most part. It rained a couple times and I even had a window open on the tent, water got in, but my bag was zipped up and no water on my stuff (no so much for my sleeping bag on the other side of the tent).
So I plan on continuing to use it going forward - it's already paid for itself because of that one time.

Realistically what does a water-resistant title for this bag mean? Could water definitely get through the zipper flaps and soak your stuff? Anybody have or can think of a method to prevent this from actually happening and thereby turning this into an affordable, more useful bag?

I think their sometimes called dry bags

m0arpheuswater-resistance for this bag: If it's fully zipped and sitting in a standard, upright, bottom-on-the-ground-top-facing-the-sky position, stuff inside will not get wet. It's not a water-tight zipper, so if water is getting to the zipper, there will probably be a little liquid that seeps into the bag.

I'm ok with this purchase, but don't think it is a great deal. It isn't as sturdy as some bags I have gotten and the backpack straps are no good, they don't stay put, they slide out easy and are impossible to get a good set up because they don't bite. I'm used to heavy duty bags like billabong, this bag is one tenth of a billabong bag. i never thought a Billabong bag would rate higher than this brand.

Is this bag water proof? Inner layers?

I think with 500D PVC tarpaulin, the material itself is water proof. I wonder how heavy the bag is by itself?

I also think this bag is pretty cool with the shoulder straps. You're right about having 2 free hands on the go. That's the reason why I'm keen on this too. And it has pretty good storage capacity as well, assuming it to be around 1kg weight if empty.

Just fyi....... the reason I purchased this bag (and I hope it lives up to expectations) is that it is not black inside like every other bag. I may actually be able to see/find my black armwarmers and black everything else more easily. Thx, Alane

At first glance this bag looks like a well designed duffel but I have noticed the base of the bag has no reinforced material. Other duffel - Patagonia, North Face etc have extra material on the base to prevent inevitable scuffing from wearing through the bag.
