GerBillI was responding to @jisham comment:
" This drop is for new-in-box US version, if I am not mistaken "
But the link @GerBill sent is for an International version not a US version of the lens.

GerBillOk, I'll try one more time and then I'll shut up https://www.42photo.com/Product/nikon-55-300mm-f-4-5-5-6g-ed-af-s-vr-ed-dx-nikkor-lens-58mm-/105173
$249 here and free shipping. I did not see the indication that it was referbished or international. I also can't vouch for the site.

GerBillWell @GerBill would you recommend that website to your family and friends?
Consider all of Massdrop's members as family and friends and when in doubt, ask questions.

GerBillI also saw this and contacted Ritz through their mail system. That is the same lens as Massdrop's offering, but for less, and is New In Box.

JaysunI took that concern back to Ritz and their response was, "No, there should not be any compatibility issues. The lens is still manufactured by Nikon and is not materially different than a U.S. model. "

GerBillI had to perform some Google-Fu for a bit, but finally found the real difference. The lens is materially the same as a US version, but the international version does NOT have a valid warranty within the USA. So the $16 difference between what we have here on Massdrop and what we see on sites like B&H, 42Photo, or Ritz is that we can get service within the USA if we need it. I don't know about B&H or 42Photo, but according to Ritz's website they do warrant the product for 1 year, but apparently it is only valid with them as opposed to any other service station authorized to perform warranty work.

SamwiseInternational version is what we used to call gray market. Nikon will not honor the warranty for international versions of their products. B&H photo sells both US warranty and Gray market products so you need to be sure what you getting. They will tell you right up front which is which and they are clearly marked on the website. But they are great source for photo products and have no problem with returns. Good luck
