As someone who's had experience with some more "hi-fi" headphones, like the HD 600, 650, and X2s (I know, such a limited scope!), I still have my first pair of K240s that are now 5 years old. Over time I replaced the stock pads with the incredibly plush leatherette pads for the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro. They provide a better seal, and help JUST a tad with the bass extension on these headphones. They are a little dry and airy, but I love their articulate, laid back, yet somewhat eccentric sound even to this day.

HuskerdontI will say, though, that while these headphones are rated at a relatively low impedance, they are a bit greedier than they seem, and DO like to be amped in order to get the most out of their sound.
