I'm a complete audio noob, but wow these things sound amazing to my ears - really clean, clear and *wide* sounding if that makes any sense; more like being there than listening to a recording. They also feel very light in comparison to my current cans (Sennheiser HD 280 pro) and the *huge* earpieces + stormtrooper colorway looks excellent imo, even with the comically long lime-green cable; headband bumps don't bother me yet but I haven't been wearing them for long.
I finally put my audioengine D1 to use (mobo optical -> D1 -> 3.5 mini) , but I'm finding I can easily top out the amp with the Q701s & wish it had a little more power, whereas my HD280s are uncomfortably loud before I've got the volume knob past 40%. Is this because of the open design, making the AKG seem harder to drive even though both headphones are rated at 64ohms? Regardless, pretty happy so far and looking forward to spending more time with these.
