From Chicago’s Allegory Handcrafted Goods, the Precision Collection features timeless mid-century modern designs made from reclaimed wood. Each pen’s materials tell a story and add meaning to the finished piece—like “The Cap,” made from a combination of Bethlehem olive wood from ancient groves and salvaged Indonesian teak. The fountain pen is fitted with a stainless steel nib, and both the fountain and rollerball pens have a magnetic cap for secure posting and closure. With each writing instrument sold, Allegory makes a tree-planting donation to the National Forest Foundation.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of finishes between Dark (with silver trim) or Light (with gunmetal trim), as well as your choice of nib sizes between Medium or upgrade to Extra Fine, Broad, and 1.1 and 1.4 Italic. Light wood fountain pens with 1.1 and 1.4 Italic nib sizes are not available for this drop. You can also add a rollerball pen in either finish (+ $75). Your fountain pen will arrive in a leather sleeve, enclosed in an eco-friendly paper envelope. Sets come in a maple wood display box.
Planted as many as 2,000 years ago, Israel’s ancient olive groves are highly protected today. Those who maintain them gather branch trimmings and deadfall for tourists and woodworkers—like the craftsmen at Allegory, who value the wood for its long history and dense, high-contrast grain. For its teak, Allegory works with IndoTeak Design, a company that salvages and recycles high-quality wood from 100- to 300-year-old buildings that would otherwise be demolished. This zero-waste process ensures no trees are unnecessarily cut down, and supports excellent working conditions for IndoTeak’s team in Indonesia.
