One of the most aggressive trail shoes in Altra’s collection, the King MT 1.5 shoes are designed to provide superior traction off the beaten path. They feature a redesigned mesh upper that’s tough enough to take on rough terrain without breaking down Read More
Great question. Think of a .5 as a “half update” and a .0 as a complete update where we overhaul the whole shoe. We go from version 1 to 1.5 to 2 to 2.5 to 3 etc... the Lone Peak is now on version 4.0 which only means that the Lone Peak has been around for more years relative to the KingMT. Hopefully that makes sense!
Can’t we go back to the days of just three choices of Altra trail runners: superior, lone peak, Olympus? All these different styles are confusing and hard to find at retailers. I just can’t make myself buy a pair of shoes I’ve never tried on
I totally agree about the roll issue with higher stack heights and I’ve found that the lack of feel also affects the stability when backpacking, I loved the superior model but since I outgrew my last pair (v1), I’ve moved on to Xero shoes. The tread on these is what interest me, my xeros are good up to a point in the mud. How are yours holding up, durable?
RustyBridgesUnfortunately they are basically dead after around 500kms of running/hiking.
Both shoes have holes in the toebox (my first Altras to have this problem). The material is tougher but also thinner than other shoes, essentially making it weaker overall.
But unlike my Superiors or Lone Peaks there is very little wear on the tread and shoelace eyelets.
Just FYI - I looked for these online and noticed that your savings on here is only about $12.00 if you buy anywhere else right now alot of places have these on sale so I can only imagine they are getting ready to bring out a new design. Many people complained about the small toe sides blowing out or wearing out so I imagine they will hopefully fix this problem. Just always check online elsewhere before buying here as nothing is returnable unless it came broken or defective which makes this place less appealing for deals
DimsonThey fit true to size for me. You could probably go a half size up if you’re concerned, but I wouldn’t go a full size up with these. I normally wear a 13 and the 13 fits perfectly for me in these.
Gentle_Jack_JonesMy normal shoe size is a 13 for most shoes, and I got a 13 in these and it fits great. The only other altras I can compare it to is the Vali sneaker, which I wear in 12.5. I would say order your normal shoe size or maybe a half size up.
