When this drop went up, I hadn't listened to the T1 so I didn't jump onboard. Now I have. PLEASE bring this exact drop back. I would love to have this Deckard/T1 combo.
We have some good news everyone. The Beyerdynamic portion of the drop has been completely fulfilled and shipped out. The Audeze portion is being shipped out separately from our warehouse in New Jersey. All the units are currently sitting at our warehouse, and everything should be out the door by early next week.
We are back with a quick update! Our vendor has already shipped out the entire bulk order, and it is currently en route to our warehouse. The shipment is expected to arrive early next week, and our warehouse team will be ready to turn it around quickly!
Expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 7/10 or sooner if something comes up.
Great news group! We placed the order for the Audeze Deckard + Beyerdynamic T1/DT 990 shortly after the drop ended.
Our vendor will be preparing it for shipment.
The moment we receive confirmation regarding the shipping schedule from the vendor, we will provide you all with updated information.
Expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 7/3 or sooner if something comes up.
You're being unusually defensive of this seller when I just asked to keep us up to date on the situation, considering several dozens of people has had the same big issue with the seller baiting and switching product descriptions on them.
Agree with you. Focus Camera seems to have not so good rating on Resellerratings.com (http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Focus_Camera). However, I did not have any problem purchasing a nice tripod from them last year (~$100). I guess I was lucky, and I do not recommend buying anything more expensive than that from them.
I've been looking for an affordable T1. I already have a Violectric HPA V100— can't say I need a different amp. Definitely cannot afford another amp and a T1 even at $600 with the Deckard.
Heyo,
If you look under https://www.massdrop.com/faq and "After Receiving the Drop", everything you nab on Massdrop will be covered. If you run into any defective issues, feel free to ping support@massdrop.com and they'll get you sorted out.
I like the deckard and this is a great price if you already wanted a T1. Personally I would like to see another headphone paired with it.... maybe an LCD 2 or another planar headphone.
I'm sure it's probably confirmation bias, but sometimes I swear the comments section comprises nothing but impudent children. Didn't get exactly what you wanted? Throw a tantrum in a public place until mommy gives in to shut you up.
There was a drop a several weeks ago where I thought the price wasn't quite low enough to warrant potential warranty hassle and extra wait time. I posted a comment directed to MD which clearly stated the changes that would get me into the drop. They decided against any changes, I purchased elsewhere, and the drop failed. It was later redropped at the lower price I suggested I would buy at and was a success. I paid extra for an easier warranty process and faster delivery, and Massdrop learned what the going rate for this particular gray market item really is. Everybody eventually 'won' without acting like a toddler.
Don't like the deal but want to deal with Massdrop? State clearly that you will not participate in this drop and why. Make it clear what will separate you from your money in the future. No one wants to read sniveling, butthurt comments from adults because they didn't get exactly what they wanted.
On topic, I've not heard the Deckard yet and can't comment on it's sound signature or synergy with the DT880 or T1. But in general, both Beyer cans offered have what I would consider peaky treble. The DT990 is by far the worse offender and rings with some amps and some music. I really don't ever feel the urge to pull them out and listen to them. The T1 is on the cusp of detailed/too-much-treble. Pairing them with any of the tube amps I've tried them with make them pretty enjoyable, though. Bass is decent and soundstage is fantastic. Just my impressions.
(OK, I read the comments to this drop again, and they haven't yet gotten *that* bad, but this sort of behavior is prevalant on MD, at least in the 'audiophile' drops. Mature posters, please excuse me for venting.)
"T1 is where its at brah," Jokes aside, a low price T1 would definitely be something that the audiophile community is interested in. A re-drop of the V-Moda M100s might enlighten your average consumer crowd for contemporary music.
Heyo,
Thanks for the your feedback on this drop. We're looking to offer deals our members are interested in, so if a separate T1/DT990 drop is what you guys are interested in that's something we'll get cracking on. Do note that the price of the individual products will be higher than that of the bundle for obvious reasons.
Like, I've got a Fostex HP-A8.... Because MD force-fed it to me using TH-900s as bait... so I ain't buying another DAC/amp. Bought a portable amp this year too.
Speaking of TH-900s,
> As all that power requires some real juice,
Hardly the reason for the high impedance. Beyerdynamic's T1, famously, develops a magnetic flux density of 1 Tesla. TH-900s develop 1.5 Tesla with a impedance of 25 Ohms. High impedance was, as we should all know, a technique used by headphone manufacturers to improve SNR; unable to get a really black background, they increased impedance and amplified the signal (and, hopefully, not the noise.) New manufacturing techniques have made this an unnecessary technique, but it remains an effective one.
PS: Incidentally, if you like nice watches as well as nice headphones, you may be interested to know that Rolex's famous Milgauss watch - known for magnetic resistance - is rated for fields up to 1,000 Gauss - hence the name. 1,000 Gauss is equal to 1 Tesla - so you probably shouldn't leave any mechanical watch with a pair of active T1s, and DEFINITELY not a pair of TH-900s.
If the Beyer T1 was available at this price without the DAC/amp, I would have pulled the trigger. Not interested in the combo as too many other good options for DAC/amp combos out there. Not seeing many savings on MD of late and lots of repetition of the same products rotating….would be good to see some new companies products featured but I guess it's a tough gig.
What an absolutely awful ploy by Audeze to sell a product that no one's ever heard about or wants by coupling it with a product everyone on this site has been requesting for several months. Without even an option to buy separately.
Heyo,
Today we've got the Deckard on deck (sorry, couldn't resist). I'll shoot completely straight with you guys, I would have liked to offer the Deckard by itself at a discounted cost to our members. It wasn't in the cards at this time since Audeze has a lot of dealers and whatnot to look out for.
Now that said, Audeze was flexible and willing to work with us to put together a compelling bundle with another manufacturer. This drop came together in a great way, and I think pricing on both the T1 and DT990 combos are as good as they'll ever get.
It won't be for everyone if you only want one of the two products in the drop, but for those that are in the market for both I think you'll find this a pretty attractive one-two punch. :)
