If an ultra-precise audio experience is what you’re after, the Audio-Technica ATH-CKR100IS IEMs are sure to please. Their unique dual-phase push-pull system works like this: two facing 13-millimeter drivers generate phase-aligned audio signals, which are then mixed to compensate for each driver’s inefficiencies Read More

What does everyone think of theirs? I have high suspicion these are fakes. The print and quality of packaging, cable material, etc, all seem wrong. I will try to purchase a second pair to compare but these don't seem like genuine ATH products.

I can tell you, Bill Poteet is the real deal and and man of incredible integrity. Several years ago I bought a pair of AT3000 Wireless Microphone systems from a large online retailer. One of the power supplies stopped functioning after a short period and instead of writing for service, I decised to call Audio Technica and I'll never forget it. It was Bill who answered the phone and I had a great conversation with him at the conclusion of which he asked for my address and sent me 2 Power Supplies even though I needed one and even though I didnt ask. Every time I use that wireless mic system (which is often because I am a professional conference speaker) I think back to Bill and that conversation as I plug in the power supply. It's not often you have a customer service experience like the one I got from Bill and when I saw his reply and his contact details, I thought I'd weigh in. If Bill says "it's so...", It's so...

I own ATH-CKR90. The stock cable is suck which is the same as this ATH-CKR100. I do recommend to get a new cable.

I have never tried CKR100, and CKR90 is the only IEM I own at the moment. Although I have almost 10 full-size headphones, I have no experience with many IEM, so it is hard for me to say. CKR 90 has the sound signature of ATH, if I compare to my old ATH-IEM (I forget the item code) and ATH-DSR7BT, quite bassy to my ears. If you like bass, you will love it. Before changing a new cable, I actually regretted buying CKR90. The high was so dried; it was like not having enough power to drive the higher frequency driver (CKR90 and CKR100 have 2 drivers) However, after getting a new cable, I love them very much. The high is a lot clearer. CHR90 sound smoother and more energetic. Earmax-cable provides a sweeter sound ( I am not sure if it is a correct term, but it is not warmer). Bass is a little less pronounced (in a good way for me). You may get a different sound with different cable, so I cannot comment on that. I think CKR90 has decent drivers, but their stock cable is just suck, and ATH may want you to buy thier upgrade cable, but you have other choices. PS: I bought CKR90 for traveling and due to the impression with my old ATH-IEM which can last for 7-8 years. Their cable was broken, so I chose CKR90 because they have detachable cable. The cans of CKR90 are metal with elegant and solid quality build. I personally like the quality of ATH products. I think they will be able to last for more than 10 years without a problem with broken cable.

seth_kongI know it's been a while since you posted this, but I wanted to thank you for the cable advice! I ordered an Earmax cable for my CKR90 because the stock cable is just so terrible. I'm not that happy with the sound, so we'll see how things turn out when the cable arrives.

why 80ohms

SAKIYUANProbably to smoothen the frequency response. Don't worry too much about the impedance. This is the product intended for mobile use, so you will be perfectly fine driving it of anything. Don't judge headphones just by impedance alone, always look at the impedance/sensitivity ratio. In this case, 80 Ohms with 110 dB is absolutely enough to be driven by any phone.

I'm seeing a lot of requests o n here for reviews of this CKR100IS. I don't own these but I do own AT's CKS1100iS. They have 12.5mm push-pull drivers almost similar to the purported 13mm drivers here. The basic specs of my CKS1100iS are almost identical to these: 5-40kHz, 200mW input, 50ohms impedance, 108dB sensitivity, same A2DC connectors. The majority of my audio equipment is IEM's including Empire Hermes VI, Noble Sage Silvers, Vibro Earphone, Campfire Lyra II. I think I have some good IEM's to compare to these CKR100IS's. I can tell you of all my IEM's, the AT's are my bass monsters. Right out of the box with no EQ modifications, these are severely bottom heavy. That may work for the most avid bassheads, but for me I have to juice up the high frequencies with whatever EQ I have on my various sources. Once I do lift the high end up though, these are stupid clear and can be really, really fun to listen to. However, the bass is just so damn big that I find I can only last an hour or two of listening to the CKS1100iS before I have to take a break or switch to another IEM. From a manufacturing perspective, my CKS's feel really well made with nice materials, if that's important to you. I hope this helps gives a little insight.

Huh... I've not had any of those issues. Did you get a bad unit by chance? I don't think there's a comparable product out yet that is better than the ES100 right now for price and specs. How is it good on paper but not in use? I read a number of reviews and feedback before I bought it. To me the sound quality with LDAC is quite amazing, or even aptX HD. I have no reliability issues either, whether I'm using it in my car's aux or with my phone and IEMs. I think the buttons could be better placed and implemented, plus USB C charging, but that's a nitpick more than a flaw. The app offers plenty of tweaks that I haven't seen in other similar BT amp/dacs like it. Plus the unit itself is so small and light. It seems to be well-regarded where reviews are concerned. Only the newest Fiio BT amp/DAC seems to be close in specs? The Bluewave Get isn't as good, that I do know. But for 99 bucks, the ES100 is a great and convenient piece of kit that lets me use my IEMs and headphones (or non-BT speakers) without needing to buy separate cables for them. I did buy the BT mmcx cable from Mee audio (aptX only) and I'd still recommend the ES100 for a better package all around and better sound (to my ears) that allows using what people already own wirelessly. Having the balanced out isn't bad either.

mayorblurpsThe BT issue is probably related to being a defective unit - it’s just out of Amazon return period and I’m not good with dealing with support. Almost all negative reviews I’ve seen mention BT disconnections.. and it seems mostly a “matter of time” before BT failures. (I wish everyone else with an ES100 the best of luck :) While the unit has great e-specs, the overall sound quality and physical design issues are likely “as designed” and I’m not a fan of the result of such implementation, especially at $100 (I’d be more forgiving < $70). The sound issue is not related to “bitness” and I suspect it might be the ultra-tiny amp unit in the ES. My other BT receiver (SBC, not even AAC) runs through a separate amp and it sounds good. My K10U IEMs also sound pleasing directly connected to my iPhone 6 SE so it’s not related to “needing a dedicated amp”. However, even with AAC BT (AAC > SBC) the music output of the ES100 becomes very “non-energetic”. Adjusting the HW EQ significantly, which is cool, restores a good bit of desired tonality. Unfortunately, even after fiddling with the many settings, the sound still “feels” like the overall energy is muted and the music is not as engaging as either other option at my disposal. Just, “meh” output. If I can dig up some 3.5mm/RCA adapters I might test the previous hypothesis of the ES100 SQ issue being related to the amp side post-DAC/EQ. The e-specs are great and such don’t necessarily cover actual implementation.. I’m holding out for FiiO’s Q5s (which has a much more dedicated amp unit), although the Q5s is significantly bulkier and 3x the cost.. the ES is very tiny and relatively inexpensive in comparison.

Surprised there are so few reviews of these. Two pretty much glowing reviews on Head-Fi. Has anyone here heard these? Really loving my Monks at the moment. Thinking these could be the next step for mobile.

I bought a ckr70 a while back after tried the whole ckr series. Ckr100 is definitely a huge step up. Didn’t think it’s worth the 300+ price tag back, but a 185 is very attractive. Still didn’t regret the ckr70.

Sorry for the late input, have been busy using these Absolutely superb sounding iems, audiostage is so good that I often forget I'm wearing iems at all... only complaints I have is that theres some microphonics (not sure if the right term for the clicking sound I'm hearing from the right driver) when moving around, have to see if the exchange cable I bought for just in case the stock cable breaks (which it did sadly today, left channel went out) fixes that problem. I truly have enjoyed these iems alot, they have been in almost daily use some 8hours a day and can hardly complain about the cable breaking because all other earplugs I have had have, given out on me in 3months on average (cheap ones I have to admit). I do wear them at work and keep my phone in trouser pocket and often take the phone out quite often so the cable has been stressed quite alot. The Titanium housing seems very durable and the paint seems durable also, there's not a single scratch or dent in them (I have been careful with the drivers them selves, the cable not so much) And they sit tightly in my ears with the stock tips... don't remember for sure if I'm using the small ones, havent fallen even once out of my ear in any circumstances. Highly recommend these if you can find them somewhere, easily worth the 200€ it cost me to have them delivered to finland, the drop itself was 160dollars or so (damn vat) Have seen these on european amazon going for about 180€ but at the time of the drop the cheapest here were 280€ Anyone know where I can find the stock cable separately, couldn't find them anywhere with a quick google ( not even on technicas own site, at the time of the drop they were 70€ or so on their website if I remember correctly) NVM found the cable being sold on the USA technica site but for 120dollars which is just too much especially because of the taxes and such, what a shame, really liked the stock cable, especially the durability considering it is seemingly thin and "flimsy" looking cable.
