Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Seriously, if anyone knows how to rectify that situation, please let me know--I'm tired of getting up to turn the monitors off/on!
Maybe products made in the US aren't superior to those made elsewhere...
Unless you want to speak to someone in support who speaks the same language as you (assuming you do), or want to visit a mfgs website and find it's written in a language you speak (assuming you do), or read an instruction/user manual in a language you recognize (assuming you might). Or return a product to a manufacturer in the same country you live (assuming you wouldn't?)
Snappy nom de plume you've chosen by the way--sounds real scary/macho--probably strikes terror into the hearts of your enemies?
Wish I would have though of that one...
But hey what would i know right? I dont think i live in the USA, im sure you know more about me than i do myself, just like how i dont own any Schiit products like the Jot, MIMBY, Gumby. Or any other amps like the WA22, LD MKVI+, Mainline, Crack, Blackwidow. Or any other DAC's like the NFB11.28, DX7S, Hugo2. I probably dont have anything better to do in life either than to be "scary/macho" on an online discussion forums.
/end sarcasm?
TLDR- Buy a product for the product not because it has a cheapo 2c tag that says "MADE IN THE USA". That doesn't make it better or amazing. That just means, in most cases, that you will end up getting price gouged. Dont get me wrong though, products like Blackwidow are what "Made in USA" products are supposed to be like, not the garbage Schiit over charges for.
Also while we are at it, you know what makes the Jot a better amp at this price point? - (As stanleymoise) already stated, better inputs, better outputs, more power and a little bit of modularity. Not the tag. On a side note, really love your style of photography. Beautiful work!
By the way, you seem to have been in such a tizzy to layout your qualifications/resume, that you forgot to address my suggestion that support issues are easier to deal with when you and the mfg are situated in the same country (regardless of where the guts inside the product come from).
Maybe it comes down to the price of the product? Most electronics are made in China these days, but at a certain price point, you can expect USA quality support--as you'd get from any of the larger TV mfgs these days, if you purchased one from say, BestBuy. At that level, who cares where it's made? If there's an issue, BestBuy is going to take care of it. But at a lower price point, especially when you're dealing with a smaller mfg, it starts to depend on how much money you're willing to gamble on a given product. If you can risk a couple of hundred dollars, then roll the dice. If not, best to save your money for a sure-thing. I'd put the Jot in the "sure-thing" category. On the other hand, I'd be a tad leery of spending $500 for a Chinese product with no US representation. Just say'n.
Anyways, my experience dealing with companies based in the USA has been worse than the ones based on China. For example my experience with Schiit have been the most horrendous so far even after owning 3 of their rather expensive products. However experiences while dealing with Chinese sellers for the Audio GD NFB 11 have been nothing short of stellar. Like when i bought the NFB they accidentally slapped the wrong panel on my unit, i contacted them, and they express shipped a brand new panel. The DX7S didnt come with the USB cable for my friends unit, and they instantly refunded $50 and mailed him 2 new cables though EMS (took like 5 days to get here).
I am yet to experience that type of support from USA based seller yet. Like Schiit literally refused to admit their mistake when i bought the Jot that they did not include a power cable :\ Bottlehead wont provide me replacement parts, even when i offered to pay for them, well that was actually for the best since i found them cheaper over at DigiKey. Not saying all brands based here are bad, but a LOT of them actually ARE really bad at providing quality support. I would gladly spend $500 on a Topping/Audio GD product than spend my money on a product from a company like Schiit, who treats their customers like Shit. Maybe they should change their name to the latter.
End of they day its upto the consumer to decide if they want to get price gouged. Support is a sad excuse to pay " a couple of hundred dollars" extra. When you buy a $500 product from china you get way better support from them. The whole stereotype about Chinese support being bad is overblown the shit out of because of very uneducated purchases from very shady sellers. You are buying an expensive item from an international seller, do you research.
End of the day if you know you are paying extra for better support, then state it that way, do not defend the "Made in USA" tag. Because end of the day, and as i said before, it means jack shit. There are USA sellers that provide amazing support for "Made in China" products, albeit for that extra $$.
Again, like everything, your mileage might vary, so stop generalizing.
Also this is my last reply to you. have a great day.
But do have a great day as well ;- )
Two of my most adoring devotees--so happy you found each other!
Say, you guys should get together and start a club--you know, for other guys who like to play dress-up games too?!
