So what do you all want in a watch, just the lume? The most important thing in a watch is its movement and accuracy. If you all want just the lume‘s brightness, just buy Apple Watch; it’s brighter at night and more accurate too.
Ball USA is a very bad and cheap business I ever met. I bought a pair of Ball as gift, four grand cash! In a store in LV. I head to airport from the store and found defect at the gate and called them right away. The watch has visible manufacturing defects, the worse part is they refuse to take return. In the whole process, the store and Ball USA just cannot be cheaper...
As seen here people' complaint, exactly the business is, lack of good management, quality does match the price, poor after sales service...
I will never give one penny business to them.
Massdrop, choose better product and good partner, do not select CHEAP!
https://www.jomashop.com/ball-watch-nm2188c-s1-wh.html Ball Fireman with tritium lume is slightly cheaper on Jomashop.

And the MSRP is $400 dollars less...
Hi there, we are currently in talks with our vendor regarding how to approach this issue. It is difficult to determine whether this issue has affected only a few users or the entire drop, but if you didn't get the Streamliner, please contact Community Support through your transactions tab so that we can get you the correct watch.

@Stiggerten @Monty94 We are in contact with the vendor and CS will be reaching out to you individually to gather information and to provide instructions on how to proceed with the replacement. Thanks for your continued patience!
just got an email and promo code sent to me fro JS for 200 off additional for a few of the models , i saw 599.99, which is really good for these watches, those prices and the code they're promoting are good till 7-1-18
How do we know if this is old stock or not? Who organises this drop? There also isn't information regarding warranty with Ball/ Massdrop etc. I know others have asked on the previous drop but no replies.
Surely we should be given a bit more information or whoever organises this drop should be available to answer some of these questions? It would be quite important factor in deciding to purchase...
Monty94
No warranty, that we know.

Would Massdrop support know?
can you wind this watch with the stem...or only shake it to wind?

A watch, or more precisely a movement, that hacks is one where the second hand stops when the crown is pulled out. Useful for precise time setting.
pdxwatchguy
Thank you pdxwatchguy!
Do other Ball models come to Massdrop? Or is this the first or only Ball watch?
andrewebay1
It appears that other models crop up from time to time: https://www.massdrop.com/search/ball-watch/drops

Ah thanks for that. There are some specials at Jomashop but i think I will wait for the diver/combat models.
I joined the last drop, and I have been very happy with my Ball Trainmaster Streamliner. I think it is a beautiful, well-made watch that is a bargain at the price. Here is why I say that:
1) The movement - although there was speculation that the movement used was an ETA 2824-2, it turns out on mine has a modified version of the Sellita SW200. I don't takes sides in the ETA/Sellita wars, but my Ball loses less than 2 seconds a day, a number that I am very happy with, although I don't know if others are seeing the same results.
2) The dial, case, and crystal - I have 6 3/4" inch wrists and this 39mm watch has great wrist presence for me. The AR coated sapphire crystal is top notch. The dial and handset are well-crafted and elegant. The case has sophisticated and dimensional polished and brushed surfaces unusual in my experience at this price point. I find the much maligned tritium is bright enough to get the job done. It certainly lacks the pizazz of freshly charged lume, but in the middle of the night my Ball is still readable when my Seiko Turtle SPR779 has gone dark.
3) The bracelet - The bracelet is comfortable and sophisticated. The links are all solid, w/ screws instead of pins, and "flow" (for lack of better term) over my wrist. The 2 "half links" are approximately 2/3rds the size of the full size links, which allowed me, after trial and error, to dial in a great fit. The lack of micro adjustment settings will be an issue for some, but I wear my bracelet loose-ish, so it is not an issue for me.
All in all, I am very happy with the watch especially at the price.
Edit In response to requests for a lume shot, here is the best I could do. The picture was taken in the dark side by side with my relatively discharged Scurfa diver. I would describe the lume as faint, but readable in the dark. If you are expecting to be blown away by the lume, this is not the watch for you.

The SW200 is based on the ETA 2824-2 - they're all effectively the same movement.
Can someone who has purchased one please post a genuine image of the watch glowing in the dark? Thanks.

Tritium everything huh?? Hahah
cagas
Let me know if you want some people you can get that and more. I know a awesome jeweler for women’s silver tritium jewelry
Tempted, if it was 42-44mm I'd be all in, 39mm is a but small for me - on the plus size it looks like it's mostly face (narrow bezel) so it will look larger... $699 for a Ball is pretty inexpensive.
On tritium I believe Ball uses T25 which is more common than T100. I have T25 on one watch and it's certainly bright enough in the dark. I have T25 on my Traser Red Alert and it's BRIGHT.
nfetterly
I only know of 1 company that uses T100.
The others that claim they use it just claim they have T100 and then stack a bunch of T25 tubes next to each other... which is not the same.
Ball is definitely T25 for all their stuff.
5ATM / 39mm dial - $699?
Good luck Massdrop, hope you manage to sell more than one😆

Regardless, I would never buy a watch that has BALL blazoned (emblazoned) on the dial, even if it was 50¢😂
Mbot
Fair enough! I don't own any Ball watches either, but not cause of the WR / dial width specs.
Oh wow, a watch with a minute hand. I'll tale two.
FYI - regarding the “underwhelming” tritium. Keep in mind that a fully charged luminova will look brighter than the tritium, however, look at the luminova 30 minutes later and the tritium will blow it away. Your eyes sometimes need a few seconds to adjust as well
At at first I was slightly disappointed with my Ball Engineer Master II Diver. But now, when I wear it at night and I’ve been in darker environments, that Ball is pretty well lit.
Also, keep in mind that Luminova goes bad as well, so the fact that Tritium will eventually fade shouldn’t be a concern.
Sorry, no lume shots.

So the lume is disappointing? Thinking to get this as my first tritium watch.
IfYouSeeKay
However, tritium illumination will fade seriously in 10-20 years, assuming you keep your watches that long...
Correct me if my thinking is out of whack here, but I don’t trust when a watch can drop this significantly in price
Dcityslabs
The entire industry has massive mark ups. This is not abnormal. Most 5000+ $ watches cost less than 800$ to make, including labor and materials.
Not very impressed with this watch.

It looks cheaply made. Lume is useless.
tbhari
"tritium is useless" LOL
Is it normal for some to have been sent and received and some to not be shipped yet? I would think all would ship at approximately the same time?
My watch came in today. It’s amazing. This was a great deal at 699! Came BNIB mummy wrapped with warranty card and dvd.

Great photos. Thank you for sharing. Massdrop scares me. This makes me feel better about pulling the trigger. Assuming I ever find a good deal on here. Which so far I have not. But great shots. Thank you.
My watch just arrived at my place in Poland. Less than a week across the ocean - quite impressive. Look and feel is amazing. Size is small-ish but looks good on my wrist.
Warranty card is not stamped. Not sure how this would work in case of warranty. I registered my watch on ball website though and got confirmation warranty got extended by 1year to 3 years period. Seems legit. [edit] Owners Manual states clearly that only stamped warranty card gives full warranty, so... seems like no warranty at all.
My biggest concern is about tritium tubes. Glow is really weak. This is my first watch with tritium tubes, but compared side by side with my Seiko Turtle it seems like a joke - it's barely visible in the dark. Does anybody else, with more experience with Ball watches and/or tritium tubes, can comment if this is normal?

you should check w MS customer service, I am almost all but certain Ball will not honor a factory warranty since it was not purchased new from and AD/authorized dealer, usually when bought third party, part of the savings that is realized is the warranty which has a line item hard cost to the msrp and final purchase price when bought new via AD. so third parties when they choose to/can, will offer their own limited warranty coverage. Don't trust a web submission, call Ball if possible or email them to verify if you sent in your watch w said SN, would they honor a factory warranty, or would you need to submit proof of purchase of a new buy from an AD
Most manufacturers will replace tubes if the customer wants it. Obviously it costs and isn't free.
I don't think most small watch shops will though, unless they're experienced with tritium.
@Marcoslav Tritium is not as bright as superlum when its just been charged. But 30 minutes-1hr later when the superlum charge runs out Tritium will be brighter.
The entire point of Tritium is that you can go into a cave, live in said cave, never be exposed to any light whatsoever for an entire year, and after that year, the tritium would still be roughly the same brightness.
I see nothing about a warranty ? Massdrop can you clarify?
Just wondering what's the warranty on this? I'm hoping it's got a slightly longer warranty period for what it is. Been looking for a watch that's under 40mm since i got thin wrists. Close to pulling the trigger for this.
Please add "Based on ETA 2824-2" to the description.
I was going to buy SDGM003 next month, but this watch has everything I was hoping for (and even more) on such a good price that I cannot miss that. Black dial, nice bracelet, swiss made, nice indexes. I'm only concerned about longevity of tritium tubes and warranty on this particular piece.

They can replace them really easily. Tritium doesn't need to be charged, it just glows non-stop until it fades out entirely, takes at least two decades.
LoftyOG
Cool! This might be useful about 20 years :D
Why doesn't the second hand have the cool logo on the end like all the others I've seen
VegasLars
They went for a more pure "heritage" look with the smaller case and art deco handset; the second hand you speak of wasn't yet in existence in the early 20th century ;)
mrfuriouser
But I want the little logo thingamajig
Pulled the trigger. Left brain and right brain reached consensus.
I love the Glashutte senator numerals and tritium tubes. This is a great deal. Nice job Massdrop!
This is a nice dressier watch, but I hope Massdrop puts up the Ball Engineer Master II GCT. I'm really liking it and given its limited edition, I'd grab one this time around.
sunz3000
I'd rather see the Storm Chaser series.
Unless I missed it, I don't see a warranty on this watch. Manufacturers, independent, or Massdrop?
I wish this drop happened last month before I got myself a SARX 035 as a black faced, more formal watch. I would have been all over this. As it is I am having a hard time convincing myself to not order it as it is a great deal on a Ball watch that I would realllllllly like to have (most are too large for things I would consider wearing). If the white face version were on offer I would have pulled the trigger for sure.
Nice job one this one, Massdrop crew!

Buy this and sell the seiko... you only live once, get a ball

Tritium lume shot from Ball Trainmaster Streamlner page.
Edit: a couple more tidbits from Ball’s Streamliner page - sapphire has AR treatment and crown is screw-in. Note: I’m assuming a reference match.

When was this watch built? This is important since the tritium light degrades over time. After 12 years it emits only half of the light. If the watches sold here are from an early batch it is almost already down to half of its initiall brightness. This watch was built from 2010 I think.
Trond
This watch originally came with a different movement (2403) then; this is certainly a newer model and surely isn't near half-life. I have not yet found when the movement change was made, but being different ensures that this is the newest model, as it is the only model featured on the current website.
