Your wallet shouldn’t weigh you down—but it should have enough space to safely store your essentials. New from Bellroy, the Hide & Seek leather wallet strikes the right balance Read More
Didn't do much research on this bad boy before purchase, but saw the fantastic price and jumped on it. I've been using the Low Down for over a year and have come to trust the Bellroy name because of it. That said, the Low Down is a VERY short and slim wallet - barely tall enough to fit US currency, but can still accommodate around 8 cards. Being so small, though, it would tend to tip sideways in my back pocket which was somewhat annoying. The Hide & Seek, on the other hand, is more of a traditional billfold, and an excellent one at that. My only concern is the magnetic strips on cards starting to fracture given the offset stacking, but hopefully the more solid construction of the wallet will accommodate. Zero complaints thus far!
The Hide and Seek is a sleek two-fold with solid craftsmanship and a quality feel. It's aptly named as well because I missed a couple of the compartments when it first arrived, finding them only after it was fully broken in a couple of months later.
My one qualm with this piece is that the card pockets are so slim that I can only fit two in each of them comfortably, and since there's only four between the two folds, I have to use one of the money compartments for cards I use less frequently. It's a minor nuisance for me, but if you're someone who uses multiple credit cards or IDs with regularity, you may want to look elsewhere.
Got this wallet and was very disappointed that the slots for cards are inconsistent in length. Some fit my cards and some do not. The flap that hides the extra cash is not easy to use and gets bent over easy. Fit and finish are OK at best. There are better options out there. Will probably go back to the Taxi Wallet.
I understand there is no return for these custom items. Drop has blown it for me with this product. I will move on and use other sites now. Drop seems to have lost the quality they started out with. I see their offerings are mediocre at best and do not offer the value they once had.
I like the quality and the leather feel. I absolutely do not like the metal badge on the front. I didn't think it would be a big deal but I occasionally stick my phone in my pocket with my wallet. I have to pay close attention to the orientation of the wallet and the phone now. Kind of annoying because I only slip my phone in my wallet pocket when something unexpected comes up.
I was also not blown away by how thin it is. Apparently I already had a "thin" wallet because the hide and seek is right about the same. The "hidden" bill holder in the back is anything but. The cover flap is so thick that it is obvious and wants to pop open all the time. It also adds noticeably to the girth of the wallet. If I could have a version without some of the sneaky "hidden" pockets and no metal badge I think it would be an absolute winner. Think of how nice a small logo embossed into the leather would look?
Wow thanks, that actually looks fantastic. Wish I had gotten that one first off instead of this one. At least then I'd be happy with my new wallet instead of slightly disappointed. I still think if I had handled either of these in person before buying I probably would have passed since my old wallet was apparently pretty thin.
This is not a thin wallet. I should have looked closer at the specs, but coming from another Bellroy wallet, I was sold on the quality and, wrongly, assumed their designs were all for thinness. If you want a thin wallet with minimal bulk, this is not that wallet.
It's a great looking wallet: good leather, nice stitching. But it is much thicker than I thought it would be, particularly at the top. Where the hidden compartment meets the inner, folded-over leather, it forms a ridge. Double that, and then add in any thickness of the cards you'll store, plus the leather of the slot the cards are in and you get a wallet that's as thick as your thumb.
