KavikIt's really hard to judge what the color will be once you hold one in person as compared to online photos - that happens everywhere I have shopped.
I want to get an EDC knife in this range and am between this and the CRKT DEVIATION TANTO BLADE - any thoughts?

cheesebearThat's one weird ass knife lol. This knife has the same materials for cheaper and bestech knives feel more than they cost. And they want $89 for the deviation when its using 8CR! Thats a big joke. you would be better off with this. just realized your comment is from last year lol. I hope u didn't get that dang crkt.
jacksonperocIt looks like this drop is just for the OD green version, but they just used the same write up as normal with the pictures of other colors included. They didn't even bother to change "massdrop" to "drop" in the text.

> "Pocket clip for right-handed tip-up carry"
This has gotten pretty ridiculous. Nearly all the knives on (Mass)?Drop are for right-handers only. Even the ones made specially for (Mass)?Drop. WTH?! You would think that, with the whole point of Drop being to order in bulk, they would be able to exert pressure to support their left-handed customers. But it never happens. They can get $1000 in-ear monitors built, but they can't get a reversible clip for left-handed carry?
I get the message: "Left-handed? Sod off!"
Pretty much done with that. Great job alienating your customers, Drop!
Have you tried not being left-handed?
In all seriousness, I know it must be frustrating especially when they don't even bother to drill holes for a reversible clip. Liner and frame locks are still going to be biased towards right handed folks anyway due to asymmetrical lock design, except in the super rare left hand versions like some Chris Reeve knives and the massdrop/gavko Thresher. I think Spyderco also offers a lefty version PM2 (compression lock).
All of those knives are considerably more expensive than the paladin, so if I were a lefty, I'd probably gravitate towards lock types that are inherently ambidextrous like back locks, axis locks, etc. Benchmade's patent on the axis lock expired last year, so there are more knives with that type of lock coming out at more reasonable prices than before. The SOG terminus xr is smaller than this knife, but can be found for around ~$50 with D2/G10, reversible clip and an axis-style lock. I've never handled one, but I've heard good things.
Okay...
Two questions...
The MDE says two toned but the blade in the picture is regular. Does the blade come with the blackened colouring?
It says bearing system, as a mechanical minded person 'bearing' can have many meanings. Is it a ball bearing system or a bushing setup?
I like my brass bushings but I find myself lubing them far more often than the ball ones.
Edit: Bah the Green one is OOS. That's depressing.
Is there any update on this drop? It's certainly understandable if there was an unforseen and unavoidable delay, but the lack of communication is frustrating. No notification of a delay until the date these were supposed to have shipped and no communication since. Its been almost 2 weeks now since the estimated ship date with no word on if or when we'll get what we paid for. Come on Massdrop, at least keep us in the loop!
