I had a chance to play with this unit quite a bit at CES 2014, and I assure you, it doesn't drive 600 ohm cans very well. It sounded quite good with the portable line of phones (which is what it's intended for, they had it mated to a T50p), and it did ok with T90s up to mid-high volume, but it was poor with T70s and the T1.
It's a nice unit, very small with a nice solid feel, but do not buy this thinking it will drive your new HE-500s.
