I was looking if anyone has used these for gaming. Interested in buying the 80 ohm model to go with my FX Audio Dac-X6 dac/amp combo. The Sennheiser 58X Jubilee also have my attention as well. Any help would much appreciated.

Nemesis_FTW770 work awesome gaming. Pick what you need being open versus closed. If you are going to use it at a friend's house or travel or your house is noisy, get the 770

Nemesis_FTWIf you play on a quiet environment and don't care about bleeding some noise outside, and you talk about competitive gaming, I'd say AKG K701/K702/K7XX (or K712 pro if you can afford them) are the best. They have huge soundstage, way bigger than anything else, and much better imaging and 3d positioning. Any of these AKG will be better than DT770s or Senn HD58X/HD6XX for gaming, hands down.

Eli35I don't want to say you're wrong, but you're a wee bit wrong. Soundstage being the most important thing in a headphone for gaming isn't true, at least not beyond a point. All over-ear headphones closed or open have more than enough soundstage for gaming, imaging is what is most important. And while k712's are wide sounding they're not perfect when it comes to imaging.
All of that aside I'd say they are probably the best among the options listed, but I'd still lean towards the 770 because they're cheaper, more durable, and sound almost open despite being closed.
In reality none of these headphones will let him down for gaming or music and they're all just as good (senns have the worst imaging between the 3 though, dunno about 58x)

UzuzuI mostly agree, I'll explain: - yes, none of them will be "bad" for gaming - yes, imaging is the most important thing for competitive gaming, but soundstage is also important because it usually improves the perceived depth (at least for me, YMMV) - open-back headphones usually cause less hearing fatigue (as a rule of thumb), so unless he needs the isolation I'd recommend a open back design, despite it shouldn't be a decisive factor - I only listed the K712 because they're much more "musical" and exciting to hear, and giving up a bit of imaging might be worth if he'll use them as an all-rounder and not just for gaming - if he lives in Europe, AKG K701/K702 can be bought on Amazon under 130€, and the DT770 sell for around the same price (less than this drop, actualy), so given the same price I'd buy the AKG K702 (just for gaming) - yes, durability of the DT770 will probably be better than AKG models
Good reply tho, cheers :)

Eli35I actually agree with what you say about the k712/k702/k7xx being great for gaming and would recommend them. They aren't musical nor do they excel anywhere because of them being all-rounders but the k712 is still one of my favorite headphones if being a bit too wide. Good detail, work with every genre, etc. Really it's just the debate of open vs closed and what he needs. I think everyone here likes open headphones more, generally speaking and myself included.

Nemesis_FTWIt is good with everything. I still surprise by the quality of this closed headphone I still can't believe is closed. I don't like either closed earbuds.
I have a grado and an Hifiman but the dt770 is also very good and more comfortable, perfect build.
Open and closed are for different use : if there is noise around you or not.
I can't compare with a 58x... Probably a HD6xx should be better, if the 58x is under, it can be closer.
It's a good choice. Maybe the price here is not a great rebate.
I have a X6 but I don't try yet with my 32 ohms version : useless for the power, probably good for the DAC.
