Why do people keep committing? Get the amazon one that's on sale! Boo hoo you don't get 600 ohms? The difference between 250 and 600 ohms is so negligible. You're paying an extra 50 bucks from the amazon price for 1. ohms you don't need 2. a different headband 3. and a straight cable...
zekentBecause not everybody is from US, right? Massdrop isn't a USA exclusive, you know. And premiums cost around 360 at my place (295 for pros), believe it or not, and even then they are not in stock. So I'm actually considering this drop.

Really, free shipping? Plus, maybe some people like the different band and higher impedance.
pingpongplayaActually with Amazon I would be able to save amazing 100% of my funds due to not spending them at all.
But if I would somehow managed to get them shipped via courier services that amazon uses (FedEx, UPS, and no, they are not free for most international destinations) I would get charged extra 30% straight away by my customs.
So that's how Amazon international shipping works in a nutshell.

zekentThe headphone you're talking about is the DT880 Pro, not the Premium.
Every time this product is listed, someone comes on and posts about how much cheaper it is on amazon, then we explain this is the Premium and the Pro version is on sale. Currently, all versions of the premium are on amazon for $349.99
How can we make this more clear in the future?

WillWill, I really don't think there is a need to clarify. The title clearly states "Beyerdynamic DT880 Premium Headphones" You don't have to read past the title to understand what product is being promoted (I appreciate accurate titles). I frequently deal with people who don't read contracts at work, and I can understand that when someone balks at getting charged extra for change orders. Tangential thinking aside, I would leave it to either a reading comprehension issue, pareidolia, or confirmation bias . I'm going with the latter, and admit I'm guilty of all of those every once in a while :)

WillYou should list all of the impedances on the front page of the drop, instead of it just saying 250Ohm. Very few know they have a selection on the next page. That would clarify a bit. A lot of people question the price of the drops because Massdrop doesn't always post the best deals as far as US prices. I don't know to what extent you guys do your price research around the web, but if people are only saving a few bucks it's not worth not having a manufacturers warrantee or waiting weeks to months to receive a product (my pov). Also sometimes you only ship ContUS sometimes world wide, never consistent. These are just some of the points I gather for the communities comments.

Will@Will Can these (600ohm) be driven adequately by the Audioengine D1?

RambonoboThe Audioengine D1 is a DAC. You'd need an amplifier to be able to drive these headphones properly.
Short answer, no and not even close.

sidewuNot necessarily, the D1 has an amp built in (as many DACs do nowadays) so it might be able to handle it. My D1 I keep at about 1/10th the max volume, and the headphones I use it with are about 1/10'th the impedance of the 600 ohm. Now, the reason this might work is that the high impedance headphones have a higher sensitivity then the ones I was using it with.
I mean, the D1 can output a full 2V RMS, which is quite a hot output indeed.
This headphone has a rated sensitivity of 96 dB. It's usually listed as a Db/mW, but possibly is db/v. Either way, 2V RMS will be loud enough. Since the impedance is so high, the current capacity of the DAC is less of an issue.
That said, getting an amp for that dac is a good idea. I am running my D1 into a DIY amp.
