Product Description
The result of a collaboration between Rainer Wenning and knifemaker Thomas Braunagel, the Boker Plus .45 Caliber Tactical Pen combines the mechanism behind a rifle with the portability of an everyday writing utensil—it also happens to be the same width as a .45 caliber bullet. To open and close the pen, use the bolt-action mechanism to firmly secure the tip in place Read More

Ayyyy all! I have a black anodized Boker Plus Tactical CAL .45 I got from a similar website to MD about two years ago for roughly this price. If you have any questions feel free to reply to this and I'll answer to the best of my ability. Mine was gritty when I first got it, but I disassembled it (a little difficult to re-install the first time), but it was intuitive and wasn't overly engineered. I shot it with some Hoppes #9 once and it worked great for a long while. I rotate it with my other EDC pens, but with pocket lint comes grit. Meh. My fingers are getting stronger. After the first ink cartridge ran out, the cheapest replacements were like, >$1.50/ea, so I fashioned my own. I grab any click-to-operate ballpoint pen that will fit through the writing shaft and cut it down to the length of the original cartridge, then add a bit of tape to seal off the goopy ink. I've added new ink probably ... a dozen times now, and it works like a charm. I LOVE THE INTEGRAL CLIP, it grabs well, it never falls out of my pocket or my portfolio - warning though, it will not bend, so forget putting it on the clip of a clipboard/through any paper/folder you don't mind getting a 'dent' in. Also, mine is a bit chewed up because I've used it on several occasions as an impromptu bottle opener. I added a rubber gasket so it wouldn't unscrew the writing tip while carried. Loc Tite would work just as well, but I write for a living, so I end up replacing the ink every 6 weeks or so. I also stretched the spring to lengthen it so it's a stronger, more satisfying bolt action. Both DIY bits work great. Overall, I love it. Boker makes two sizes, in anodized aluminum or raw titanium. (This is the smaller of the aluminum ones), It fits well in my hand and I always get comments. (Usually to stop clicking it in a meeting or that it's too loud). Haters gonna hate.

As a person who has bought this pen before, here is a very quick rundown.
The positives 1. It is very fun to write with and to play around with the clicker 2. It will draw heads and want to make people want to steal it from you 3. For such a small pen, it is very well balanced when the pen itself is actually out (it basically writes by itself)
The negatives 1. The spring is very tough in the beginning and loosens very easily 2. The cap that stops the refill popping out, unscrews by itself when you are clicking it 3. The part that you use to actually use with your finger to get the ink holder out, unscrews very easily and the paint comes off as well. 4. I am myself a student, so you can image how important it is for the ink to last long time. Sadly it does not. With an average amount of writing each day, the pen will last you no more than 3 days. The refills are expensive as well.
Look, this pen is nice but the cost of keeping it isn't economically viable. If you plan on only using this pen for signing for stuff, then it is fine. But if you are going to be using it for writing things, then I suggest looking elsewhere.
If you have any questions, please do let me know.

Hey everyone,
Thanks to those of you who brought it to our attention that the incorrect pen was shipped, and our apologies for the confusion. We have gotten in touch with the vendor and we will have the correct pen ready to ship out to the group next week.
Everyone should have received an email from our support team with more info if you would like to request a refund instead of waiting for the replacement.
Hey Lukasmip,
You can keep it, we're not asking you guys to return them.

I was sent the wrong pen too. The right thing for Massdrop to do would be to send us the correct pen and let us keep the old one. The LEAST they can do is send us the right one and give us free shipping labels to return the old one. This was my first experience buying something from Massdrop and if they don't handle this the right way then it will be my last too.

Hey everyone -- It seems that our vendor shipped the wrong item to at least a few people. We don't know immediately if the whole group is affected or just a portion, but we're looking into that right now. Once we figure that out, we'll also figure out a resolution for everyone.
We're sorry for the trouble, and ask for your help in determining the extent of the problem - please submit a help ticket if you got the wrong pen using My Transactions in your member profile. Thanks for your patience while we get this sorted, you should expect and update from us by Monday 2/13 here and/or an email from our support team.
Thanks for flagging this so we can check it out. @Melvaneous @bomble @MattG7145

The pen I got is not the pen depicted. No bolt action. Very disappointed. Feel that the images for this drop were very deceptive.

bombleI also got this same pen. It is Boker's tactical pen, not the one that we were supposed to get. Cool pen but not at all what I wanted and had ordered.
