You are going to get cut.
once upon a time ago there was 4 or 5 mods. You would get banned for no reason at all, and there would be no response as to why. That was about 6 years ago. Second time I got banned asking a question I stayed away from that sub until last year and found knifeclub.
Massdrop only gives estimated shipping dates, they try to make it the most accurate possible. But this is a group buy for a custom item. Hundreds of things can go wrong and delay the production.
actually i own nano-oil, diawa, custom oil, mineral oil, boker branded lube, benchmade lube, Finishline, a bottle of custom made lube and machine lube. i know what im talking about. how am i being a keyboard warrior? its clearly snake oil, it clearly uses marketing tactics that are questionable but used to sway folks who dont know what industry standardized tests are. not to mention they wont tell you whats actually in it, and they will not share this supposed patent that it supposedly has. So tell me, why im a keyboard warrior? oh have you tried them all? do you agree with the false advertising?
anonomousYes, I've tried them, and some you didn't mention. I find Nano works as good or better, although I like Frog if I need more of a grease. No, I don't believe in false advertising. I'll also stop feeding a troll. You should step back and relax; you're really sounding a little stressed.
Only 102 left to purchase.
I jumped in on this and am a little uncertain on buying this. Just getting into knives. Aside from Swiss Army knives I just purchased the spyderco Delica on here and am waiting to get it. How would a knife like this compare to that (other than size)? Why are people buying this one and why is demand so high? Some of the reviews of other UT's were very good. What's better about this one? I joined simply because the knife looked unique (and if I'm honest I got sucked into the excitement of a massdrop exclusive). Sorry for the noob questions here.
Welcome, I am pleased but not surprised that you got some great answers from the community. You picked a pretty cool blade to start your collection, if you do decide to go down that road. Be careful, though...I packed the car for camping last weekend and found out later that accidentally brought 8 knives just because I have them stashed in every pocket of every bag I own at this point.
JonasHeinemanHaha! I wonder if you were to tally up the cost of those 8 knives what that'd be. That's my next fear is how much I'd spend...especially if massdrop is going to keep placing $200+ knifes. I probably going to have to start jumping on them.
Wow...amazing! We gave over two weeks to join originally to make sure that we'd have a big enough order, and it looks like we will be sold out in two days. I'm glad there's so much excitement about this and we'll do our best to get the order started ASAP once we hit 1000. I won't be at a computer for the rest of the weekend :) but I will read through the whole discussion on Monday to answer any remaining questions, and we'll have an update for the group as soon as we can submit our order. Many thanks to everyone!
I agree, hell even flat black would be better, the plain stainless just looks weird with the rest of the knife. I'd end up painting it and hope it doesn't wear too quickly.
Thanks for the update, MassDrop. I'm eager to get this knife, like most of the other enthusiasts here. I also understand you don't have control over the myriad of issues affecting knife delivery..
Just a thought; When a drop goes overdue like this one, try extra hard to reach out and communicate with your supporters.
Silence and copy/paste posts don't instill your customers with the most comfort. Talk to us, interact with us, share you eagerness with us. Help us feel like a partner rather than a mark.
We're happy to be your customers, treat us like you're happy to have us. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
HackenslashI like this. " We're happy to be your customers, treat us like you're happy to have us. Thanks and Merry Christmas."
A Boker keychain would have been a nice gesture for the wait too. I forgot what the knife looked like, and I bought two.
HackenslashHey @Hackenslash - We are always looking to improve and do appreciate you taking the time to give us feedback. Thank you, and hope you had a great holiday!
Hey group,
We've touched base with the vendor once again this week and they've let us know that they are still anticipating an initial batch of knives shipping to our warehouse next week with the rest scheduled for shipment by the week of 12/26. As always, we will continue to stay in contact with them and relay and news we receive directly to you all.
We still understand that the additional wait time is undesirable. If you would prefer to cancel your order, please contact Community Support using the “Contact Support” button in your transactions page (http://massdrop.com/transactions).
You can expect an update from us on 12/22 or sooner if something comes up.
If you have any questions, please visit our Help Center (http://massdrop.com/helpcenter).
Sure wish Massdrop would make it their policy to list the country of origin in the initial description to save a great many to have to dig for it. Gives impression of an attempt to hide something unless asked. Most everyone asks now, as all the tricks have been played.
You, Sir, are absolutely and completely right.
I don't know why so many cling to old ideas and ignore the fact that, today, quality of any manufactured product is solely dependent on having a properly set-up factory, with the right equipment and machinery on the factory floor, choosing the right materials, and the proper workforce, duly trained for taking care of the production.
As you so well said, geography, location, ethnicity have nothing to do with this anymore, and it has been so for a few decades now. Time to lay these old ideas and clichés (which sometimes border on racism) to rest.
No, quite literally the Boker PLUS line is made in China or Taiwan, that's what makes it a "Plus" brand. If you want a Boker made in Germany you look for the non-plus line. I realize I should probably not assume everyone knows, my apologies, but hopefully this helps for future searches and purchases.
Hey group,
We heard back from the vendor once more this week and they've told us that an initial batch of knives is set to ship to our warehouse the week of 12/19 with the rest slated for shipment by the week of 12/26. Of course, once we receive tracking information and updated arrival dates we will be sure to pass them along the group.
Once again, we understand that the additional wait time is undesirable. If you would prefer to cancel your order, please contact Community Support using the “Contact Support” button in your transactions page (http://massdrop.com/transactions).
You can expect an update from us on 12/16 or sooner if something comes up.

Hey Massdrop....still waiting for your CS to even answer email about my refund ??? I can easily file a chargeback with my bank...you are in violation of shipping promptly btw...
You can't really use "well, this is X" as a rationalization, because it works both ways. One could say, "Well, it takes 4 months for an order to be completed, so I expect them not to screw around for a single day after that. 120 days is bad enough to wait without making it more"
The argument goes both ways, so it's a moot point...and this is coming from one of the people defending the 1-2 week delay recently. There's nothing Massdrop can do to control manufacturing delays, which IMO makes it all the more important that they be extremely prompt and vigilant about everything that they can control.
I was one of the people who purchased the knife before the date was changed to December, and I'm still okay with it and understand that it was just a grammatical error, but it still sucks and if I had been expecting it for Christmas (which with a November ship date would have been completely reasonable) I likely would have been upset as well.
One other thing, since we're on the topic of "this is Massdrop, it's super custom blah blah" that definitely makes sense uo to a point, but sometimes that fanboy attitude can cloud judgment regarding the fact that this is still a business and there are still expectations. I see people say that for a lot of drops that have something special, like this drop's upgraded blade. Yes, it definitely takes more time to produce it, but some of the commenters act like it has to be forged in Mordor and tempered using Mjolnir. To be clear, I don't think this drop is unreasonable at all, I just disagree with the attitude because it becomes a bit if a blanket statement that people use for every drop to justify any sort of delay.
Username mentioned DHL, as well, which is a god awful shipping company and has nothing to do with the quality of the item in question. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that a good chunk of buyers would be willing to pay extra to use ANY other service. It's not like DHL customizes in shipping custom-made fragile products or something...so his complaint is definitely a reasonable one. Just because we saw the same situation and made a different decision doesn't mean that there was no situation.
