Brad Zinker’s Urban Trapper is hailed as one of the most easy-to-carry everyday folders on the market. And because of its popularity, it’s been riffed on over the years with different sizes and blade shapes Read More
Love the unique grind on the blade and style of the handle. One of the lightest knives I own, easy to forget it's in your pocket. The action is excellent, for the size of the knife it has a heavy blade that swings open with no effort.
Have used this knife multiple times per day since receiving it and am very impressed. it is slim enough to pocket and forget its there.
The only issue I have is the clip. I've snagged it a couple times. Once bending the clip and another time it was pulled from my pocket. this happens with 99 percent of the EDC knives I own so I didn't reduce my rating.
I was pleasantly surprised with the slim profile and low weight on this knife, and even in this smaller package you get a full blade length at 3.5". This, in combination with a super clean action, makes this my new EDC!!
I really want to love this knife but I can't quite get there. I think it is just too light and doesn't feel as solid as I'd hoped. It does seem to be very strong, so this is probably a perception thing. This would probably be just right without all the holes milled in the scales. I might feel differently after I carry it a few times.
While this is a solid EDC it has one major flaw. It tends to show spots of surface rust at the first hint of moisture. I was working on a home improvement projects and sweating at home and after only a hour in my pocket it had several rust marks on the VG-10 blade. The marks wiped off with a little WD-40 but still... I wonder if they were allowed to stay on the blade a bit longer, would still have been the case?
It is labeled VG-10 but without a lab test there is no real way to be sure, I guess. I have 30 or 40 knives with this steel and this in the only knife I have had issues with.
