Quite a fun little office distraction. Came assembled with a spare tension arm/bow and wire.
Pros: Great fun
surprisingly powerful. Shot toothpicks through a styrofoam cup, send qtips ~30ft
a bit of a challenge, as the projectiles do not fly straight (not the fault of the crossbow)
The small projectile keeper on the top can be bent down or up to hold the desired item (qtips with one end cut/pulled off).
Awesome looking, gets lots of comments
Cons: The stand is not well cut, but a few minutes with a file and it fit without problem.
Finish wear (at least on the black one) is not great, but it looks cool with some silver and some black.
I received a black and a silver one. The silver was great out of the box, but the black one had some finish (powdercoat or paint) over a small bump right where you insert the projectile. It worked OK with toothpicks, but I could not insert a qtip (rolled paper stick) properly. A few minutes with a small round file and I resolved this, but not everyone will have the tools to do so.
Quality I would give 3 stars.
Fun gets 5.
Bought 4 of these and the quality is abysmal.
One of them isn't drilled straight so anything you load in it ends up at a 45 degree angle -- meaning you can't actually fire it.
One of them fires as expected but whoever assembled it at the factory was careless with their screws so one of the front tensioner screws has a flat head and one of the rear assembly screws has a round head.
One has a tensioner that was so warped that the string sits at a 45 degree angle across the bow so that was the spare tensioner immediately gone. I also noticed that the bows seem to use two tensioner pieces stacked together but you only get a single spare.
The finishes on all of them immediately start scratching off (especially around where the string rubs and where the stand sits) and some metal parts have sharp burrs.
I'm not sure if the genuine articles are any better but if I were Uncommon Carry, Massdrop or whatever lowest bidder factory produced these, I would be embarrassed by the poor QA.
It gets a second star because if you actually manage to get one that fires, they're pleasingly dangerous.
I bought four of these, took way too long to receive. Packaging was poorly done and all of mine were rusty! I'm going to ask for my money back. Very disappointed.
Junk. Pure junk!! Came in pieces. No instructions. The trigger mechanism was made of pot metal and never work. Cheap construction. Reported to Massdrop and they didn't what to do anything about it. Don't waste your time and money with this kind of useless junk! Total ripoff!
It comes with 2 of the front tention arms and it's design allows both to be used at once, effectively doubling the power.
Shoots through triple layer corrugated cardboard no problem.
You think you want this. You don't.
I think it's sitting in a box somewhere, with all the toothpicks I broke the tip off of so I don't actually hurt people with it.
Cool for all of 2 days. It's functional, but finnicky. You gotta be really careful with how you line up your ammo and how you aim to shoot properly. Had multiple instances when the toothpicks just... kinda... flopped off the bow? Very anticlimactic.
