I am giving the product 5-stars as it is everything that it was described as. It is very well made with an interesting 2-step/piece lid, a very fine stainless-steel filter, a nice cork sleeve, and the double-walled glass container. Works as easy as advertised. I use it at my work office where I have a hot-water dispenser near me - so it is somewhat convenient to make. I have 2 cautions for anyone considering this item. 1) You have to be careful of how fine a grind of coffee you use in it. I tried to use some Seattle's Best finely ground blend (almost espresso-like on the grind) and it did not work, clogged up the filter and would not let moisture thru. So keep this in mind - it works best with coarser grinds. 2) You have to be careful when pouring the water into the filter as it will only handle so much at a time before you have to let it drip down thru the grounds - so it does take a little time to pour. It is especially important when using HOT water and/or when using a water dispenser to pour over. (I learned the hard way to put the hot water into a paper cup (or any cup/mug) first and then use that to pour into the filter as it is much more controlled.
The final note I would add is, I find it works best for me to place the filter with the grounds in it in a separate cup. For 2 reasons: 1) when drinking the coffee will come out much quicker without the filter in the unit even though it can be used this way - as it is designed for this. 2) I can add more liquid to maximize how much I have in one serving without putting the filter in the unit as it has some displacement and the unit only holds about 10 oz. with the filter in the unit after you perform the pour-over.
I am happy with the product. Easy to use and easy to clean/care for.
PS: others have mentioned issues with leaking. You have to be careful when aligning the upper, or top lid with the lower lid as it is easy to get the threads unaligned. Secondly, when drinking without the filter in it, I find I need to be careful and not tip it too far up as coffee can then run out the air hole located in the exact center of the top cap (and it's about 1/8" in diameter): this is the breathe hole that allows air in so that you can drink it.

I have Brumi and the Soma branded bottles. Both appear to be made by the same producer. My guess is Brumi s the manufacturer. The differences is the cap color, Brumi has a grip pad, and the branding location. My Soma leaks from the drinking tab and I later found the bar attaching the tab to the cap is plastic when it snapped off. I assume the bar is plastic on the Brumi, but mine doesn't leak when closed. I don't really use it to travel so, it's not a major issue. I tend to drink with it cap off for pour it into something else. I like it compared to other pour overs because it is really good at keeping sediment out with the the use of paper filters. It's also a easier to clean because there is less surface area for the grinds to stick to. It makes a good cup of coffee and I don't notice any sediment while drinking it down to the bottom.

After using the bottle for four months, I regret making this purchase. The construction of the glass piece is excellent, but other than that, the product is poorly designed. My main complaint is the design and quality of the plastic top. One of the most important features of a bottle designed to hold hot beverages is a lid that stays closed. This one does not and has not since day 1. No matter what I do, how hard I press, trying a little pressure to one side or another, this will not stay closed at all. My second biggest complaint is how the plastic top pieces fit onto the glass bottle: the threads barely fit together. It normally takes me 4-5 tries to get the top to screw on without cross-threading it. Once the top is on, the design of the opening makes it so that I have to literally hold the bottle completely vertical to get all of the drink out of the bottle; a usual 45 degree tilt won't get the last 2 oz or so out of the bottle. Another design shortfall is there's nowhere to put the metal basket once you're done brewing/steeping. Other bottles I've used that have 2-piece lids (similar to this) allow for one of the pieces to be used to cradle or hold the metal basket once it's been removed from the bottle; that's the whole reason the top is in two pieces. I don't understand the thought process behind the design of this bottle's top. There's the first plastic ring which screws to the top of the glass, with a small plastic gasket inside; presumably this is to create a better seal, but when the lid won't stay shut, not sure how this matters. The metal basket is sandwiched between this and the second plastic top piece which screws into the first plastic ring. This is another instance of threads being really difficult to properly align. Once the basket is removed, you still need both plastic pieces on the bottle and there's no where to put the now soaked and leaky basket of tea leaves or coffee grounds. tldr: This bottle has a poorly designed top that is difficult to screw on, that won't stay shut, and that doesn't allow all of the drink out of the bottle easily.

It leaks. It leaks and it leaks. I couldn’t find anyway to send it back for a credit. If I were to try and drink from it I would be wearing hot coffee. It’s the most disappointing purchase I have made on this site yet
