Seems like a high quality item. I'm no expert on compasses, but mine doesn't seem to have the flaws that others have mentioned. My scout son and I are looking forward to learning about orienteering.

Poor QA. Received mine with a large bubble in the dial (not the level thing, in the actual dial where the compass needle is) that the needle even got stuck on repeatedly. Agree with others about the severe dip. I don't have the printing issue (this is the March 2019 batch) - but the build quality and the fact that the fluid doesn't seem completely sealed (how else does it develop an air bubble??) is not at all confidence-inspiring when you're thinking of taking this thing out into the woods. So, even in this later go-around, would avoid. Brunton doesn't seem to have resolved their QA issues, which after this amount of time makes you think they just don't care.

To think they were selling this thing at almost $100 at one point...

Honestly, i expe ted more from Brunton, considering how long they have been around. Yes, it has bells and whistles, and lights and fire works on it. To start off, your primary ring of numbers are set in a fashion that your back track numbers you see long before your primary," 1-360", ever come into view. Accuracy is way off compared to my other compasses. The rubber armor is ill fitting, and when you level it, according to the level, ,there is so much dip, it fails to work. I would not bet my life on thos thing much less give it to a Boy Scout. ...it went in the burn barrel. For a few bucks more, buy a Cammenga...my fail safe.

Overall a good and useful product for those of us who grew up before Garmin. First the pro's.. It does point north (yes I have purchased compasses that didn't). The scales and markings are clear and legible.... It combines both map and navigation features in one package... It has both an angle measuring device, and with some mental gymnastics a way of determining the height of objects. Second the con's... It's a bit large for pocket size. If you wear military style clothing the pockets should be big enough though.... Compared to other compasses it's kind of heavy, although it does combine two functions... Lastly, the little bubble thingey. Totally useless and a waste of time and effort.

Unimpressed with this TruArc 15. The needle on mine dips significantly when the compass is level. The bubble level on the compass is so sensitive it might as well be one of those cheap plastic "brain teasers" where you try to get the ball bearings to sit in their little dents -- it's near impossible to hold still enough. The double set of degree marking numbers on the bezel are confusing, and the included instructions are generic and don't say anything about them. The bezel also seems to be missing any labeling of the compass points besides the numbers; it's a good thing I know East = 90°, West = 270°, etc. The good news is that mine points north (as long as I have it tilted just right), and the bezel markings don't seem to be sloppy, as some seem to have experienced.

fast shipping, excellent compass. I've had one of these before and they are great.

My TruArc didn’t have any of the issues outlined by other buyers, so it would seem that the batches sold by Massdrop weren’t quality controlled correctly. I guess I got lucky?

Very poor quality for a Brunton. Needle dip is poor and drags. I would never participate in another pone these drops.

TrueArc20 has a global compass and in Northern Hemisphere there is too much needle dip (at least on mine). When compass is leveled based on the bubble level, compass needles does not freely turn due to the friction caused by the dip. Brunton customer service (Chad) promised "a new" replacement, however the new repair guy (Tyler Loomis) send back my own compass dirty, scratched up, even more defective than before claiming it passed their repair inspection. Customer support people like Tyler what destroys a brand and a product reputation. I would never buy anything from Brunton with such poor quality and even worst customer service.
