I know I'm almost a year out in this response, but I have the LuxuryLite cot size large that I use for some car camping. I'm not sure from your question whether you are referring to that one or to the newer Thermarest UltraLite. They're not the same but similar construction. More complicated assembly than the Byer appears to have. Cross braces are not close to your back and do not dig in when you lie on it. They're a bit fragile, though, and I have had several bend slightly although still usable. Weight is awesome. You made some comparisons to the weight of a sleeping pad. Keep in mind that the cots aren't really insulated, although the UltraLite looks like it has some reflective film incorporated (LuxuryLite does not.) Other than summer camping, you still may find yourself packing a pad too for insulation. I'm giving some thought to picking up this Byer cot as a second one for car camping. (I wouldn't add the weight of any of them to a backpack trip.)
