A few things to watch out for with this microphone... In addition to being thirsty for +48v like scredly mentioned, this mic will generate "dolphin speak" screetches when first powered up by phantom. And many people (myself included) purchased an m179 only to find the polar pattern selector dial misaligned - the single detent does not match up with the indicated position for cardioid.

I have a pair of these mics. Nice sounding for the dough. Be aware of the high phantom power requirement of this mic: "Power Requirements: Minimum requirements are 24 or 48 Volt phantom power capable of delivering at least 8 mA". Some interfaces do not offer that much phantom juice. A suitable external phantom power supply may be required to get max. performance from the mic. It will still work with less mA/Voltage, but transient response may be affected.
