Canon’s EOS 100D combines the functionality of a DSLR with the form factor of a mirrorless camera. At less than a pound, the body is lightweight and easy to carry, all while offering a full suite of controls—from a front dial and dedicated ISO, to exposure compensation and AF/AE lock buttons. (Anyone familiar with Canon’s other cameras will have no problem with the EOS 100D.) It’s equipped with a CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5 processor capable of shooting 18-megapixel photos and full-HD movies. And thanks to its maximum ISO sensitivity of 12800, it’s capable of shooting high-quality footage in challenging environments, even in low light.
The camera’s standard kit lens, the EF-S 18–55mm is fitted with a fast, quiet STM motor capable of quick and unobtrusive autofocus—which is especially handy when shooting video. A circular seven-blade aperture allows a close focusing distance of less than a foot. For traditionalists, this EF-S lens also offers manual focus.
