From the design mind of Alexander Shorokhoff comes the CCCP Black Sea. Featuring sandwiched, lumed markers; a large numeral 12 at due north on the dial, and a colored seconds hand, the Black Sea makes a statement Read More
Une très belle finition pour ce modèle. Habitué de cette marque, ils me surprennent à chaque fois par le rapport qualité prix de leur production. Je recommande chaudement à ceux qui hésitent 😉
A bit difficult to work out where this watch comes from. Yes I know it is purported to be a Russian brand, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it contains a Seiko NH35A movement yet this was not mentioned in the description. Then you look at the case and it is so similar to the Spinnaker Bradner, I would bet it has come out of the same factory. Anyway I am loving the watch, a good size (although a little thick), legible applied indices and accurate timekeeping.
Oh, I forgot about the leather strap - it is thick and has started opening up at the thin end (probably 'cause you have to use considerable pressure to get it through the first keeper).
I have replaced it with a supple rubber strap.
This is a solid watch for a $99 deal. Super compressor looks, with an internal rotating bezel, dual crown in the 2 and 4 positions, semi domed/beveled mineral crystal, nicely styled hands with a contrasting red seconds hand, look-through case back (albeit through a red tint) and signed main crown are some of the biggest highlights. The brushed/matte black case finishing is hard to describe but looks beautiful. A workhorse NH35A movement completes the package for a well balanced and functional watch.
The few negative aspects are the poor lume (yeah, this is no superluminova), the "unlumed" bezel (is unlumed even a word?) and a stiff leather band that yells replacing.
Sure you don't have a swiss 28,800 bps caliber and a double domed sapphire crystal but, again, for $99, can you fairly ask for any of those?
If you ask me, this is a great deal. You can't go wrong with it.
Lets start off with the pros:
- case finishing is quite nice for the price
- the mineral crystal has a nice "edge" to it
- workhorse movement
- the indecies are raised and the dial has a nice deep color
And now to the cons:
-it has no business being this thicc
-the lume is quite shit
-the provided leather strap is borderline unusable because it's almost 5mm thick.
-the dive time crown is pretty loose and not screwed down so it moves around on the wrist quite a lot
Nice watch for the price, just pme thing, replaced the band as soon as you can, (i always do this) because the leather is way to thick and fells rough.
The first thing is this watch does not have a Slava movement in it. It has a Seiko NH35 movement. So technically it's not a Russian watch anymore, it's Japanese
Quite impressed with this watch. It's my first in probably 20 years or so, so I guess I'm easily impressed. LOL Leather band is stiff, but feels like it's of good quality and should last. The watch it's self, well........mine was loosing about 8 seconds a day. I feel single digits is acceptable, however I don't wear it to bed or work (don't think it would come home in one piece) so if i sit it on my desk upside down (vertically) it gains that time back. It's now less than 5 seconds slow over the week. I feel that is quite exceptional for an automatic watch.
I paid AUD$150, but on their website it's listed as USD$500 that's around AUD$740. For that price, I really think this should have a sapphire crystal not mineral, and I would have liked a bit more water resistance. 200m instead of the 100m it has, although their website states it has 5ATM, so 50m (I'm confused), so take that for what ever you like. The crown is signed, but the bezel crown is not, and they are both a little small. The dome shape can be a little hard to grip. The screw down crown is not so bad once it pops out but the bezel crown does not, so it just fiddly. You wont be using it much so not a big thing IMO.
Over all I love the watch, especially for the price. Clean design, nothing outlandish, subtle colors that compliment each other, (I got the red/black one).
So in conclusion, if the design floats your boat, grab it, it's a steal at this price. Definitely recommend.
Can’t believe this sold so cheap. It’s an awesome watch
