I have had two of these for about a year now. They run hot from PC. I like the AKM sound very much.
But the most fun is having windows 7 and 10 ocassionally drop them and turning the unit into "USB device not recognized". Despite using the latest drivers and following instructions, reinstallation does not always work, leaving me with a non functioning unit.
So I will be looking for new mini DACs, sigh.
causticVery strange. These work quite reliably, we have thousands in the field. Please email info@centrance.com and we will help. We stand by our products.
HellreaverI have two. One runs warmer than the other. Beyond what most would call slightly warm. But it´s not a problem.
One has to be plugged in every single time I want to use it (a fix is on the way for this I am told by Centrance), or the sound does not work on the PC. The other drops from time to time and generally does not have to be re-plugged in to work.
causticMine does this too with windows 10, it is an issue with Microsoft's signed driver enforcement (Centrance drivers aren't digitally signed as trusted by Microsoft)
When I disable 'signed driver enforcement' windows 10 recognises the centrance straight away as a USB audio device
To Disable Signed Driver Enforcement policy
Open an elevated Command Prompt. To do this, press the Windows key, type Command Prompt, right click on the Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
Type or paste the following: bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on
Press Enter
Restart your computer.
