Beautiful damascus blade. Really like the warmth of the sandalwood handle but do wonder how much abuse it will take. The flipper tab is positioned well forward, and shallow relative to other flippers I have, so it is pretty awkward to use IMO. The knife is overall larger than I imagined (thinking wood scales + damascus = gentleperson's pocket knife). Skeletonized liners and black G10 (I think) backspacer. Smooth opening but not as smooth/fast as the Civivi Baklash; at least not yet. Lockup is precise/definite and there's no play in the blade. Scales are made to good tolerance. Don't think they're resin-impregnated so may try working in some Watco oil or rifle stock oil.
A nice knife for the money. Made with love, or at least quite well engineered/manufactured. The combination of sandalwood handle and damascus blade give it some old-school flash.
finally received mine today 7/31. build quality is good, finish and polish is beautiful. the blade itself is gorgeous, pictures dont do it justice. it's almost too light, Ive never had a wood handled flipper so this is new to me.
only complaint is absurdly long delay on delivery.
Interesting that the one variant of the CIVIVI Anthropos that Drop features in their ad, is the one variant that is not available for purchase. Nice one Drop...
kstokleyThat's good news, however, I was just able to pick one up from KnifeWorks for $102, out the door, no shipping or tax, which saves me nearly $10 in tax. So basically you are selling it for the same price as the retainers, you are charging tax, and not shipping Immediately. I will get mine in a few days. I am not seeing the advantage to buying from Drop these days, which did not used to be the case, back in the beginning. Drop used to provide buyers with a price advantage. But not any longer... What's the deal these days?
NickMuleCivivis DAM is a blend using their 9cr18mov (not to be confused with 9cr13mov or 8cr14mov) which is similar in performance to VG10 and has good heat treat.
