Hi, What is the warranty period on this card?
I have had the card for 18 months and the Centre/Sub output has just died(I suspect).
I am still trying to determine possible causes, but initial testing says output failure.
Thanks
I need a new soundcard and I was thinking to buy an AE-5 Pure Edition when they become available. Is the ZxR better or worse than the AE-5 in terms of audio quality?
i bought this sound card many years back. its pretty pricey and i was hoping that it was able to do what intended. if the creative team member can help...... can you use this to sing karaoke? i initially bought this thinking i can hook up a microphone and turn on karaoke on youtube to sing with the music.
bonbon525You definitely could use this for Karaoke. The audio inputs are incredibly clean. You will though need an adapter if you are planning on using a microphone with an XLR connection.
I bought this card about a year ago from this drop.
The build quality is really solid. Sound quality is a definite step up over the motherboard sound card or a laptop sound card.
I have used this with HD439 Headphones, a 5.1 setup and 5.1 over optical and all have sounded great.
The biggest feature that I would like to see if being able to play two seperate audio streams over two different devices.
It is not possible to use the speaker out if you are using the headphone out, this is done via a toggle in software.
The software options are fairly solid but you will find that each device requires some tweaking in software to get it sounding perfect.
The microphone is not jaw dropping but still very solid.
I would not recommend getting this card if you are not prepared to go diving through your windows playback devices menu frequently if you are changing outputs, or going through the creative software.
I would recommend this for audiophile gamers, or streamers that need inline audio processing.
This is also really good for CS:GO on default settings with my HD439's there is exceptional spatial awareness and I find I can hear footsteps really well.
I have had issues with windows updates messing with the creative software and requiring a software reinstall.
I am part of the HD6XX drop and will post how it handles those later in the year.
Hmm, I think it could be a matter of personal taste. I have the EQ set and the bass about one third the way, and I love the music (classical, yoyo ma and pop songs)., and find the balance is great.
Hi Cambo.
A bit late on the reply but here goes.
Overall the ZxR goes really well with the HD6XX, I have had zero issues when using it plugged in to the control Pod.
I initially started out with the Classical EQ and a couple of the other enhancements but have since moved to zero enhancements and EQ.
I owned the smaller card for about a year.
It did break on me, but someone pointed out to me that it may have broken because I had it positioned right above my PSU. Which wouldve been blowing warm air directly into it. But in my defense, I only had one slot for it. I dont know if thats really something that would break it.
But I did want to say, it gave pretty good surround sound, drove my AKG K7XX pretty well with no problem. Im not an audiophile, but after these broke, the audio sounded underwhelming with the onboard card. It also made my mic much clearer sounding than onboard, and no background static.
Audio also picked up no hissing noise, which was something I was greatly concerned about. But everyones system is different. But my experience was no hissing with audio.
Unless it is fanless. Then you must position it upwards. Similarly, if you have an old-fashioned top-mounted case, then you need to suck air in from the case and out the back.
A big issue that I'm dealing with in my PC setup is using a wired headset and mic with latency-free mic monitoring. Does the ZxR handle that with zero latency?
