The story of damascus steel dates back more than 2,000 years. Believed to have originated in India, it’s made by folding hundreds of layers of steel together in a unique pattern Read More
I made the mistake of ordering this because I thought it looked cool and my husband would like how interesting the pattern was... I'm disappointed and should have listened to the comments. The box it came in was broken. It's so thick it isn't really useable (hard to handle, hard to open) and the carry case it comes with isn't even the same color as the one in the drop photos. I'm disappointed. I've gotten way better quality knives for less money. I really should have listened to the comments. :(
M_chef'Damascus Steel' refers to the pattern visible on the metal, due to the way the metal is manufactured. It's usually carved from numerous layers of hardened steel :p
x9MemoriezIt was a joke. It's a knife with a "$200 MSRP", you would think that at LEAST the blade of the knife had the grade of metal used.
Surely you can't be serious in answering that question.
Did a little research on this knife. Pakistani Damascus. Likely better quality than the $10 Pakistani Damascus knives, but at $100 you could get far better Damascus knives from less dubious manufacturers, like the multiple Böker Damascus knives under $100 or a Kershaw Damascus model, or even an Mcusta with a Damascus clad VG-10 blade.
Mbarronits problably a carbon damascus and judging from similar knives that ive seen like this problably in pakistan or a place where labor laws dont exist. dont go for it dude.
Rough Rider makes cheap but surprisingly decent quality knives. They use 440A for most every model, and their heat treat is good (considering the steel). The Rough Rider isn't as pretty as this knife, but it will be far more functional.
