Got mine today and was really enjoying it, but it lost power after 5 or 6 hours. It's the right voltage for my area, so I don't suspect the transformer. There's a little bit of a jangly noise in the 6SN7 tube like a burned out light bulb, but I can't tell you if it made that sound before. Could it just be a bad tube? These two stock tubes are the first I've ever seen in person, so I'm not sure what kind of noises they're allowed to make :) The blue light at the front doesn't turn on when I turn on the unit (with or without any combination of the tubes), but I also don't know if that light only works with functional tubes installed. If anybody has any advice on how to troubleshoot this, I'd love to hear from you! EDIT: After a bit of research, I found that the common humming with the stock tubes is in the left channel. Mine was in the right. It disappeared after about 2 hours, but I'm curious if that difference could indicate some other problem?

revisionaryDid you check the fuse? If you had a short somewhere, in the circuitry or the tube, the fuse might be blown...

Partypooper81Thanks for checking in! I actually just blew my third fuse. Found out the first was when it shut off, so I used the spare and that blew immediately. Just picked up more fuses and plugged one in without the tubes and it still blew. I was hoping it was just a tube, but it looks like something more serious. Do you have any ideas where I should look next?

revisionaryFirst of all, I think you can stop blowing fuses. :-) I haven't seen the schematics of the power supply so I cannot really help you. But anyway, this is a warranty case. I think you should contact massdrop for a replacement... If you find the schematics I would be happy to take a look at it tho....

Partypooper81I just contacted Massdrop and they got back to me in *13 minutes* even though my ticket was also forwarded to a second department! Unfortunately, they have no more units in stock and can only refund me, so for now I'm making sure I've covered all options that won't void the warrantee :) That said, I'm gonna see if I can find those schematics for you...

revisionary:-) since opening it up will void that warranty, I think you might have covered all possibilities already. There isn't that much you can do without opening it... This drop comes along regularly, the last one just ended a few days ago and before that it was in November I think... I would take the money for now and (impatiently) wait it out... No, you don't want to do that, it stinks, you're right about that... but it's probably the only solution... If I remember well these units are rewired for 110v since China is 220v, it could've gone wrong there. All speculation of course ;-)

Partypooper81No luck with those schematics, so it looks like I'll be waiting it out :) Thanks for your help!

revisionaryI only found the signal path schematics myself, nothing from the power supply... too bad. I hope you have better luck next time!

Partypooper81To be honest, it's probably for the best that I put that cash back on my credit card at the moment. I got a taste of the Darkvoice/HD6XX combo and I'll be back for more :)
