Earpads “make contact” with the path of the sound traveling to your ears, as well as directly influence the distance between the driver and your ears. Are the pads tall? Do they angle the driver? Are they sealed or “open” to let sound and air pass through? Even the material and density of the “wrap” makes a difference... you can hear a difference between Alcantara and Sheepskin.
