Joined this drop after trying out the brainwavz hm5 pads on my th x00. Those pads made the sound incredibly v-shaped and was unbearable for me to listen to. They were very, very comfortable though. Hoping that the dekoni pads are closer to stock sound.

PainiyffDekoni pads just arrived in the mail today. The sound is very close to stock, hardly noticeable difference, which is a plus for me. Compared to stock, these sheepskin ones have a much softer feel, which feels great on the ears when putting them on. They do seem to be a bit warmer when wearing for longer periods. I noticed the memory foam is a bit more sturdy (stiff) than stock foam as well, which increased the clamp force a bit but for some reason provides a better seal for me. My ears still touch the inside of the earpads, which is annoying. Compared to HM5 these are much less comfortable overall. But to me the trade-off for being closer to stock sound is worth it. Now to try the ZMF pads...

PainiyffGood to hear that the clamp force is increased with the Dekoni pads. I also have the Brainwavz Sheepskin on my TH-X00 Mahogany. I stuffed 4 pieces of toilet paper into each pad and that cuts down on some of the harshness but I’m thinking since the Brainwavz have such a large opening it’s not cutting down on some reflections which contributes to the harsher sound. I do need a bit of extra depth to the pads since my head is narrow and with stock pads the headphones would just slip of my head if I tilt my head forward. One th biggest improvements that can be made to the Fostex cans is a stronger headband similar to what BeyerDynamicor DT 880. Thats just the right amount of clamp for my head.

PainiyffAre the Dekoni pads thicker than the stock pads? I need @ 30 mm thick pads MINIMUM which is the thickness of the Brainwavz Sheepskins. There’s just not enough clamping force on the Fostex to stay secure on my head with a thinner stock sized pad.
