At this price you just can’t turn these down!
After burning the Finder X1s in for about 100 hours and some tip rolling, I have found a winning combination: silver filters with the double-flanged tips. The key for me was using the double-flanged tips. The bass was tamed to a bit north of neutral, the mids became more prominent, treble increased slightly but sound more extended. No sibilance or spikes come to the fore. The soundstage really opened up with the double-flanged tips. If I was listening only to EDM or hip hop, the single-flanged tips would be preferable. For excellent competence for many genres, the double-flanged tips may be worth trying. Yeah, at $50 these things are a no-brainer purchase.
I just bought a second set for a gift. The X1 at this price is an absolute steal.

Thank you for your business! We hope they love them :)
I just received my set of X1s. I am impressed! I know they need burn-in before I judge their SQ. I hear a lively, punchy IEM. The build quality is top notch. They are light as a feather when in-ears. I look forward to another drop to buy one or two for gifts to give for Christmas.

Thank you for the review!
I’ve had mine for a little over 2 weeks now. A few problems.
The packaging. The filters are very difficult to remove from the box without ripping the box apart.
The cable. The cable is simply put, garbage. Came out of the box janked up like nobody’s business. Spent the first 2 weeks trying to un-jank these and while they are less janky than they were initially, it‘s still very janky. Oh and also the wire splitter looks like it was ripped off of some $5 earbud.
Sound. They’re alright. Bass is ok, sometimes lacking definition. Mid range is a bit recessed with mediocre vocal separation. Trebel is present with decent detail retrieval and definitely the most affected when swapping between filters.
I guess for the price they’re alright. Build quality feels pretty bad because of the god awful cable. Oh and you will hear cable noise.

I like how all the positive reviews are thanked and negative reviews are ignored. Thanks for the write-up. I was going to buy but I should save my money for something more worthwhile.

We handle all incoming feedback equally :) We're happy to address negative feedback and reply accordingly. We want to always make things right.
Just received mine for a couple days now, gotta say I’m quite happy with the sound and built quality of it.

Very happy you love them!
I bought these recently, they are utter trash. My $12 panasonic earbuds have deeper bass and more lively sound.
they look nice, thats it. sounds like you are hearing from out a tin can do NOT buy

Have you put on the Comply tips?
JoshThomas
Do they still come with Comply tips? Mine didn't include them.
Jesus, it's hard to get the extra filters out. I think I almost broke one trying to!

Thank you for the feedback :)
Hey folks--why does it take until Sept 11 to ship these? Is that when the drop ends?

Just hopped into this drop, how much of a upgrade in sound do you think it will be from my Panasonic Ergofits? https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Headphones-RP-HJE120-K-Ergonomic-Comfort-Fit/dp/B003ELYQJI?th=1
Been using those awhile but the sound is kinda muddy and these look nice enough

It looks like the comply foam tips are not included for this drop? No mention in the description.
Wondering whether this massdrop version has a mic?
Load 1 more comment
Yeah, that's my suspicion as well. At this price point, I would love to purchase this. But, I really prefer iem with mic since I don't want to carry 2 different iem just for listening and call. Thanks for the reply!
ramar
This version has no microphone, however we are not discontinuing the model. We will have plenty of these around for some time as they are a staple of our inventory and a spectacular all around earphone :)
Just to let you guys know.... I bought these in December for $70, don't use them that often because I have a dozen other IEM's to listen to. Anyway about a 3 weeks ago I noticed the rubber grommet on the jack came loose. I contacted customer service and got no response, waited 9 days and then sent an email to the manager of customer service...his response was " sorry , Ill look into it", and haven't heard back since. So if you purchase a product from EchoBox and have an issue you're screwed!!

The last time I needed new AFT filters was about three weeks ago, and they arrived a week later. The first time was about a year ago, and I had the filters around a month later. Again, this in no way invalidates the poor experience that you've had with them (and I'm sorry to hear that's how it has been for you). People should take both experiences in mind when considering their products, and it will always be up to the company to prove themselves to their customers, not the other way around.
goldfinger
@goldfinger, did you email in to support@eboxaudio.com? If so, this seems very strange given our response time is almost unanimously within 24 hours with rare exception.
If you would please follow up with a message via our Facebook page, or our above-mentioned customer service email, I will personally look into the situation and ensure it is resolved.
Anyone using the smoothest tuning filters (silver/bass) able to comment on the treble characteristics of these? How is fatigue, sibilance, hotness, etc?
treal512
They're still gonna be a bit bright, but with a warmer tilt. Likewise, the white/silver [bass] filters won't turn them into basshead IEMs, just present a little more low-end emphasis. Make no mistake, they are bright IEMs, so if you are treble-sensitive I would probably stay away unless you get the chance to try them first. I personally don't catch any sharpness or sibilance from them, but I'm not very treble-sensitive, either. I prefer to use the black [balanced] filters, as I think it gives the most even presentation and lets the mids shine the best.
treal512
Its v-shaped. I wouldn't use the treble filters. The neutral or bass filters work for me. You shouldnt have too much trouble if you use the bass filter.
Looks very nice, but I just received my final audio e2000. Would this be any better?

Debating between this and e3000.
Has anyone listened to both?
Yes they’re MUCH better. These are by far my favorite earphones of the series
My current favorite is tfz exclusive5. I’m happy with these but wouldn’t mind exploring other iem. Anyone out there have both and would you be willing to share a comparison. I mostly listen to classical. Gear: fiio x3ii - fiio E12diy Thanks

Thanks for the info. So these may be a bit of a sideways move? edit: Does the absence of a removable cable present a drawback?
oldnoob
I never remove my cables anyway, so it's not a deal breaker for me. It's probably a side step like you said, but it a different sound. I do like the interchangeable filters, so you can experiment with which sounds best. Also note these are hang down style, and the TFZ are over the ear.
These are on amazon with a 50% off coupon which brings them down to this price, and i'll have them in two days.
jbroome
Lmao, Echobox must've been reading because that coupon flew off.
Can we have another drop?
These sound stellar after some slight equalisation. Stellar as in almost a good or better than some $1-2k iems.
The value is off the charts.

Really
An example would be the LCDi4
Though I admit, their poor tuning is more to blame than the tech used in them.
3k to 5k local currency, I'll change my original post
Sebastian1989
As requested :)
I got an email asking me to review it so I wanted to ( they’re one of my fave iems right now) but I can’t when I go to the Reviews tab. If this is happening to more people then Massdrop is missing out on reviews.
Mine just came in, but did not receive the comply tips or the organizer.
Lacrossederio
Didn’t receive those either
Hello, I'm confused. In the product description it says a pair of Comply tips and an organizer are included with the X1, but I just received mine and neither are included.
Untame_Impala
Same here. What's up with this, Massdrop?
Just got my X1s. How do I determine which earpiece is the left earpiece?
JoeyDee
Look right in front of where the cable enters the earpiece, there are "R" and "L" markers. The right side also has a red surround where the cable enters the earpiece while the left side has a black surround.
Great - already $5 cheaper on Amazon at $59.
Hey Sam, I still waiting to review the nomad since the beginning , please message me back on my email address jetplanexxx@gmail.com
Hey Everyone, Sam here from Echobox! I just wanted to post this comment as our very own AMA, so if you have a question with regards to our company or the Finder, please feel free to drop it here on this post and I will do my best to provide an answer :) Drop on folks!

It shows 229.99 for me and that IS it's MSRP. This is an older model and it's street price has dropped well below it's MSRP. Here is an old review to validate my point. MSRP is in the top box... https://www.pcmag.com/review/348370/echobox-finder-x1i
Hey! Apologies for the late reply, for some reason I missed the notification on this. Electronic Vices is correct, our original MSRP on the Finder was $229, however it is now lower on Amazon as part of an ongoing promotion we are running.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to let me know here, or you can always reach our support team at support@eboxaudio.com.
Don't be fooled by the three-year warranty, it does not cover normal wear and tear, which is the reason the vast majority of IEM's fail.

Lol
I was basing my claim on an Amazon customer who posted a direct quote from your company that wear and tear from daily use was not covered. The customer specifically mention cable fraying as the issue and was told it was not covered. Perhaps everyone at your company is not on the same page.
