New to plus 100 dollar pens and just joined the pelican m200 smoky quartz drop. Is this a better pen for the money? Should I cancel and get this instead? Love titanium over resin... plastic. Don't care about prestige. Prefer quality and value. Would love to hear thoughts of owners of both.

Not to direct people away from good drops, but if you wanted something in the size range of the m200 but standout a bit more and keep a nice bock #6 titanium I would take a look at Karas Kustoms. I think they have popped up on Massdrop before, you could always keep an eye out if you really want to buy it as a drop. Believe it should come out to about just over $100 for the Karas.

Mine hasn't left the daily rotation since I got it - if you're even considering I'd say go for it.

I love the variation the EF is giving off in the titaniu. Once you get used to the semi-flex writing it makes all kinds of inks look great - even the shimmer inks I’ve been running latel.

smitha834Oh great, that’s what I just ordered. I’m excited to give it a spin, this will be my first Ti nib and am looking forward to seeing if this is going to be my next obsession.

Got mine this weekend. Pretty pleased with it overall. Polished Ti with medium nib.
+ Beefy, tight fitting converter. Really nice compared to some cheaper pens I've got + clean, unblemished finish looks great - much fatter than expected. It looks a lot like a cigar holder. Ergo is fine though. - screw threads are really squeaky
Overall a nice purchase for the price. I'll be adding it to my EDC pocket carry with my two Karas Kustoms pens.

Joined the drop late due to prevarication, so only choice left was the polished titanium (I wanted that) with extra fine nib (wanted medium). Any comments on how this will perform? Worried about it being too scratchy & difficult to hold at correct angle to get smooth flow. The choice is to replace nib with a market retrofit, but they look pricey - almost as much as the pen! Looking for some words of comfort from any with experience

blibsterYou can swap out the nib and sell the one you don’t want. Titanium nibs retain valuable because they are uncommon.

blibsterI've had Ti EF, F, and M nibs from my Namisu pens. I wouldn't say they're smooth, but "scratchy" is a bit exaggerated (although this may be subjective). I personally would say using them is like writing on paper with a newly sharpened graphite pencil - but that's just me.
Too bad they don't have an F option, EF was too thin (to show any character) for me and the M made you write much larger which can be annoying if you're used to writing along the lines of ruled pads.

Well I just bought the brass one so will not be getting this one. The fact this includes the titanium nib makes this a great deal.

Disappointed that they didn't include the black version which looks quite sharp. If anyone wants to watch a review of it, Figboot on Pens on YouTube has a pretty good review of it.

CarlosfdrLove the black one and the brass one. I am thinking on this one as well.... Might see the black drop come around again, you ever know. It is a good looking pen :)

Looks amazing! With no clip, however, I wonder how long it’ll take before it rolls off the desk and onto my concrete floor ^_^

How do the nibs write? On the narrow end like Japanese nibs or wider like European? Any flex? TIA!

The feeds are also from Bock. I have the same nib/feed unit from another pen with a broad nib and it seems to keep up, same for my 1.1 mm stub.
My stub did have pretty bad baby's bottom and the feed on the broad had enough manufacturing oils on it that it didn't work well until I cleaned it more thoroughly.

Not familiar with this pen in particular but there are several factors in play here.
--A broad nib, or a flexible nib, generally requires a higher flow rate. --This kind of converter has inherent design problems if a pen needs considerable flow. (Not just my opinion. John Mottishaw has said it over on nibs.com, and he's generally considered the top nib customizer in the country.) The very, very narrow opening is a chokepoint, and is actually narrow enough for capillary action to block the flow. --Many pens are sensitive to ink selection, for this and due to properties of the feed itself. --The feed itself may simply be dirty/greasy. This is a comment one sees from dealers from time to time...like Mottishaw or Richard Binder. Industrial production on the feed can leave particulates or grease from the feed-cutting process. --Nibs are sometimes not properly set.
That said, I wouldn't recommend a broad or stub with this particular converter. A Pilot CON-20 is fine; a piston filler or eyedropper is fine. And better still, order through someone who write-tests before shipping.
