Product Description
One of the most popular in the ESEE collection, the model 4 is a nice combination between portability and power. Weighing in at half a pound, this full-tang fixed blade measures 9 inches long Read More
You're right about posting this, and I will delete it. But wrong about the CIMA being junk. It's an excellent knife, and it doesn't use ESEE's name and it is slightly different than the E-3. You could be a bit more diplomatic as well.
bucktenThanks for removing the pic. You may well be right about the clones quality but it wasn't really my point. Whilst I'm sure we could display many cheap clone alternatives for the products that sell on Massdrop, better judgement will usually be encouraged as there's a time and a place for everything.
I thought the purpose of Massdrop was to arrange "deals," and I guess this is a "deal." I just wish I didn't have to put it in quotation marks... a quick search, not even trying hard, and I found it from a very reliable seller at $87.95 + shipping of about $7, every day of the week, month, year. Why pay more, AND jump through hoops with Massdrop. I stay just hoping they will figure it out.
LUCKYDAY1985Unfortunately they go the easy route and spend too much time trying to sell stuff available all over and can't compete with the volume other sellers have (Amazon in many cases). So the best we often see on this site is same price and 30 day wait. Massdrop is really lucky they have loyal customers.
They should spend more time finding unique stuff not widely available and negotiate bulk deals on those items. But that requires more work.
spotfireAlso, no option for the 4HM model. That would be my preference. I really appreciate massdrop offering the ESEE products and I understand MD can't really undercut most ESEE dealers, but in this case I will probably get one from a more specialized ESEE dealer that might offer more selection, custom scales, and as good of a price or better. Thanks! Keep 'em coming!
The price point isn't great considering you can get it on amazon for a couple dollars more, they'd ship right away and you can get a different color sheath if you don't want black. Great knife, just not sure the wait is worth saving $2.
I ordered my ESEE 4 from knifeconnection. They sell the scales only as well. Different colors as well as scales that cover the pommel if you prefer.

Holidays are around the corner. If you can wait a bit and get lucky you can get a good deal. Hope this helps.
Custom G-10, Deer or Elk horn, custom titanium with a colored micarta spacer would look pretty kewl as well...the possibilities are as endless as the imagination...
FWIW—these are on Amazon for $99 w/ Prime shipping https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B017RHBACU/ I recently got one off Amazon. It's a really nice knife and I'm sure it'll stands up to years of campsite use. But this drop isn't really a deal.
Scott8 weeks after you posted the above, the Model 4 is back up. Not sure if it did then, but your link now goes to a slightly different model, the Model 4P, the "P" presumably being for the polymer scales. Prices vary from $99.67 up to $113.15, and all are available for 2-day Prime shipping.
One of the $99.67 models is a no-coating option, which I would've turned any on this drop that I bought into a more polished version, but I can polish the non-coated one on Amazon a lot easier without having to first remove the coating anyway, and since I don't really care about the polymer vs Micarta scales "controversy," I think that's what I'll do.
All that to say this: Thanks for the link! :-)
davidylauIn marketing, truth falls by the wayside. The intent is to make the person believe that the product is so good that he MUST purchase it. 1095, plain or peanut (MoV) will rust if not cared for.
