Exactly what it looks like in the pictures. The only addition it could ever need is a wrist strap to keep it from flying out of your hand when chopping. No fussy bits, just pure utility including the sheath. Makes perfect sense when you read ESEE's own description that it is based on "Latin American cacao or coconut knives that are used and abused in food gathering and prep". I think this knife was made to be abused. Pretty sharp when it arrived, but not shaving sharp because it was made to chop not slice. The edge could stand some cleanup if you want it to look less like it was just sharpened with a rat-tail file, but why mess with agricultural practicality?
This is the 2nd Esee knife I've purchased. Very very solid and well made blades for the money. One thing that sold me on the Izula which I assume is a warranty they stand behind all of their blades was a story that a guy called Esee and asked them if their warranty covered the blade if he shot it with a gun. And they said yes, so then he took it to the range, and put a round through it. Called back Esee and they sent him a new knife.
So the company is definitely worth supporting. This is a bit of a niche blade. Definitely not something you will constantly have a use for. But on that next camping trip it will definitely come in useful. My only complaint is I wish the scales were slightly larger, and perhaps with a bit more non-straight shape. It feels like something that would turn and slip in my hand if I start to sweat.
