Spanish for mosquito, the Zancudo is a smaller and easier to maneuver version of the popular ESEE Avispa. Designed by Mike Perrin and Jeff Randall for Blue Ridge Knives, the svelte folder features a utilitarian drop-point blade made from reliable D2 tool steel Read More
Good price for a D2 blade - hadn't tried this steel before so I was eager to give it a go. Haven't sharpened or honed it since it showed up, and it's holding its factory edge very well. Not a huge fan of stonewash finishes, but this is a great little knife, and a good deal for ~$30
Love this little guy. 30 dollars for D2 blade and G10 handle? C’mon. I laugh at anyone who shells out 150+ for sypderco, benchmark, etc. Unless they’ve got ample money to burn, cuz yer really not getting what you’re paying for.
Solid feeling, reasonable steel, reasonable action. Overall happy with this knife, with one small issue: I'm left-handed, the clip can be moved to the other side, however, it makes it a serious hot spot, so I keep it in right-hand setup.
My only complaint is that the flipping action is a little stiff until you work it a bit, but once you do it can easily be flipped open with one hand.
It's thin, light, and the frame isn't needlessly wide or long for the blade. It's very concealable, comes surprisingly sharp, and for the price, amazingly not made out of Chinese 'steel'
Also the knife is made in Taiwan.
I am completely disappointed in this knife I couldn’t wait for it to get here. Well, it arrived, and there are only a few things good that I can say about it. The fit and finish are good and the blade is very sharp.
Onthe flip side I can barely get it to deploy and then it’s stuck open. It takes two Hands to get the lock released. I own a nine dollar Kubey that is all around a better knife. This knife is such a disappointment. I was hoping for a much better knife. I do not recommend this knife to anyone.

Nice sized EDC folder, with tough D2 steel on it. Would give it 5 stars if the coating was just a bit better. As you can see both the pocket clip and the coating on the blade are already coming off. Other than that: it's nice enough to carry around on a daily basis.
The lock bar stuck badly and the detent was so bad that it took two hands to open,I have a nice deep cut on the top of my thumb to prove. So I polished the lock bar face and corresponding face on the blade as well.I also machined a very gradual feed ramp into the detent problems solved.Great knife
I have loved every Esse knife i’ve ever bought. Except this one.
Don’t like that there are scales on only one side, leaving the opposite side in plain bare steel. the locking mechanism is not really user friendly, and the blade is impossible to deploy with one hand. This knife will never leave my drawer.
On the pro side, the blade is superb as you would expect from an esse knife.
