Yeah I totally agree with MTG Goldfish. My post wasn't that it was worth it. It was more of just an explanation of the high prices. I bought a box of modern masters 2015 and it's value "if" were able to sell everything from it was 147 dollars... I joined this drop, because I got really excited. Thought about it, and cancelled. I'm going with buying the singles, or possibly picking up a 4x commons uncommons set on ebay, then buying the singles for rares.
Update: [My wife just said that she would buy me this for father's day.... ] Yeah... I'm getting the box. :)
BazainAs I'm typing this, booster boxes of EMA are selling for $340 - $350 on some of the major MTG sites. So compared to that, this is a good deal. But yeah, it just seems crazy to pay that much for a booster box with a fairly low estimated value.
The debate is moot. Here is one entity that WILL sell 50+ cases of a "limited" product a few weeks before release for 2x their cost. There are enough consumers who are willing to pay a premium to guarantee they get a product upon release. IF there was an actual number of the print run , like sports cards, where cases and cards are numbered for the "limited" release than it makes more sense to me but it doesn't have to make sense to the market. Congrats to those , like massdrop, taking advantage of the market. The people who complain the loudest about prices are the ones who buy in at these prices....
More like $100-150. Ideally, I'd sell at 150% of what I paid, or greater. And the waiting bit... it's literally going to gather dust in a cabinet until I either sell it or draft it.
Great item, but several of these sell on eBay for cheaper every day. I thought the point of Massdrop was to get a good price by all going in together and buying a bunch at once?
Last 3 days of eBay sales prices (including shipping):
1/16 - $178.86
1/16 - $170.00
1/16 - $179.95
1/15 - $178.00
1/15 - $174.94
1/14 - $172.00
1/14 - $172.49
1/14 - $174.94
Almost all of these are cheaper than even the lowest price point here including shipping. So it is cheaper on eBay AND you'll get it much sooner?
joefrothanks for pointing bad pricing out on here. Something tells me there is a bulk of product being held and dealers are trying to move it and make a bit on it.
This is actually a reasonable price most boxes if you can even get them are going up in price as most places are out of them and wizards is only sending a restock of 2 boxes per store and then thats it you wont find them for under 300 probably goin to go as high as 400 within a month.
Most times yeah they run a lot of good deals but these things people have been hoarding or jacking the prices up and being so limited your lucky to find any let alone under 300 bucks....this coming from Deriums card shop and I have known him from youtube for a while now hes a straight shooter when it comes to these things.
It's a "deal" like this that makes me wonder why I haven't unsubscribed from massdrop. It's been a long time since I've seen anything worthwhile spending money on this site. What an absolute joke.
DDDDDThis is a decent price as some have stated, depending on your shipping of course. The average expected value for an ETM box would be around $200, so don't expect to get your money worth unless you are rather lucky. The high MSRP is mostly due to the limited print more than anything else. Watch this video, it's a great review of the product and what to expect -
This drop just keeps returning. Guessing some people are itching to get rid of these before the soon-to-be-seen Wizards reprint. I feel sorry for all the people who overpaid for these, and feel disgusted by the distributors who held onto product just to get the price inflated.
ArdenDThere is no reprint. Print runs cost a ton of money to spin up. WotC already had pallets of EMA printed and held out of circulation so that the prices of singles didn't tank too much. Otherwise, confidence in the product would have tanked more than it already has, especially in the eternal formats.
Regardless, don't buy these until they hit $215-$230 a box shipped. They are already sitting at that price unsold on eBay.
