This is a fantastic monitor probably the best for under 1k I have a pair of the Twin 6Be's and love them completely no ear fatigue even after 12 hours of use, what you hear is what you get, which took some getting used to after NS-10's and genelecs, great for production, recording, and mixing, I'd gladly buy any focal professional product again even at full price. Your ears, mixes, and Clients most importantly will thank you
Why is the limit an odd number of monitors? I realize that you purchase them individually, but... doesn't that seem weird to anyone else? Other than the number of units being the same as the model number.
This vs jbl lsr305?

Oops I thought it was 500 for 2
Uhh... something is backwards if the price is 549.99 but MSRP is 524.99...
We need to mass drop a pair of Focal Shape 65's. They cost a a bit but carry much newer tech and sound amazing! https://bhpho.to/2oYCOD5

I just snagged a pair of the Shape65's and they're stunning.
The CMS was a pretty great speaker, though, and certainly at that price point that's a steal.
Does any one else lol when they see odd numbers sold? Has someone been saving up to finally get the next one to complete the pair or someone just needs a high quality monitor in mono? I'm assuming it's someone that thinks studio monitors are sold in pairs and when it arrives they are going to be bummed.
Focal CMS 40 is $345 at B&H and CMS 65 is $595 at B&H, no wait and free express shipping. No tax for CA as well, so both are cheaper than MD price. Great product, but again, MD doesn't really offer price that is competitive enough to justify the wait.
Since there's probably no way for many of us to audition these, it would be nice if someone could provide a comparison between these and others like the JBL LSR305/308, the Yamaha HS5/HS8, Audioengine A5+, KRK Rokit series, etc. Just in case anyone out there has had a chance to own or demo these alongside other units.

Well.
These used to be Focal's top-of-the-line-until-you-hit-the-really-big-stuff monitors. The next step up were the Solo6's and then the three-ways like the Twin6 and SM series. So these were pretty hardcore speakers (and were priced accordingly at about $800 per speaker). I can't speak to the Audioengine or the JBL's, but they certainly outperformed the KRK's and Yamahas in my experience, particularly in terms of "sweet spot" and midrange detail. They don't have a huge bass presence, so if you're mixing EDM you might need a sub, but their bass extension is pretty flat until it rolls off.
The reason these are dropped down to the $550ish mark is they've been discontinued, replaced by the Focal Shape series (which has a new tweeter and has passive radiators instead of ports for tighter time-domain bass response).
The CMS's are daaaaaamn fine monitors, though.
Lateralus
Hey Lateralus, I've had the fortune to be able to compare the diffrent sets of monitors on your list and can describe the JBLs as great monitors, except their lastest 250 dollar ones whatever their called... Yamaha if its not an NS-10 dont even... just wasting your money. after JBL then i'd put KRK's ive hear the expose's i think their called and the normal rockets which are somewhere just above the HS-5thru whatever. The difference in how a JBL sounds and a focal sounds is totally diffrent. The jbl while not klanky or tinny does have this kind of sound its not harsh but it is fatiguing and the speaker itself "has a sound" thats what i would say. Focals dont have a "sound " to them. What you hear is the music... and thats because the company builds the speakers the cones the boxes the amps for each type of monitor its all designed to work to create the least distortion and the best crossover so that phase or grainyness isnt there. Its akin to pulling as sheet off the music... neither of these speaker would be suggested for mixing edm. And would be better suited to rock country pop pop rock etc.... without a sub that is. Hope that helps
Is this gonna be shipped by DHL global mail? My last 2 attempts to putchase the Neato robot vacuum were lost in the mails. Perhaps it was too heavy for the postman to conveniently misplace it.
What's another monitor that these are similar to?
I love Focal. Glad to see a drop that isn't fidget spinner version of "audio" (yet another generic USB headphone amp/dac combo or dodgy "me too" headphone-of-the-week).

I'd be using them for exactly that purpose. Which of the three models did you use?
Duncan6
The 40's. 100 Hz and up these sing like an angel. Finding the right sub and crossover point to blend them into was challenging.
hey is this price for a pair or single , anyone know???
uwstudio
Hi @uwstudio, this drop is for a single speaker.
Matt.T
Thanks Matt I noticed it after I posted....
What's the warranty on these? And who is it through?
Not bad monitors from what I've heard.
