Wow.. think I may be finished with MD.. first all the price increases, the new name, site and business model, the Aune X7s nonsense... And now my top and base is out for delivery in ANN Arbor Michigan. I live in Toronto Ontario Canada...
They are addictive lol. I am still best at spinning SS(longest spin time) but copper is my fav. Not as weathered as yours. But I like it. Daughter calls it the "Nasty" one
I would like to see the base in another colorway. I don't want a base that stands out; I want one that blends in without calling attention to itself. Neutral colors would be nice: wood color, dark grey, or black. Perhaps a rimless version.
Black makes nice contrast for many tops. These tops are gripless and have no bearings! Can you get good spins and and don't the tips wear faster? They do have nice design.
JSE1They don't spin nearly as long as a quality weighted, bearing top, but they are very nice tops and I'm happy to have them in my collection.
I have a few from the 9g aluminum to the 30g brass. I can get about 1-2 minutes from the lightest, and about 4-5 on the heaviest. But, I'm still perfecting my spin with these, so these times might be below average. I will say that the spin can be tricky to master, especially with the polished versions.
I will say that this base (their newest) is a game-changer, though (I have the non-Massdrop version). I don't know what they've treated this glass with, but it's sooo quiet! I don't get any chatter from my tops on this base, and chatter = energy lost. I regularly get 12+ minute spins out of my Prometheus Lambda with ruby bearing, while I typically get around 10 minutes on any of my other bases.
I'm going to join this drop because the turquoise blue looks amazing, and to nab a small discount on the titanium top.
JaytalOwner of all 18 tops + waiting for the Kickstarter Humanium piece weighing in.
The weight and texture of the tops plays a large part in how they spin. The Aluminum top will be easier for a new top user but the Titanium one has a very satisfying weight to it that will enable you to spin longer as you improve.
If I had no other foreverspin tops and had to pick between the two I would go with the Titanium. It's just overall a more well rounded top.
Thanks. I really want a mirror base that's in the 4 to 5 inch range.I got one of those magnifying bathroom mirrors. The glass is too thin for my liking though.
ChewbaccaYou could go for something like this:

I have a smaller lens (about 3" dia) and I painted the back (flat) side with some gloss black spray paint. It looks alright, but I think it'd look better if I took the time to carefully paint the rim, too.
You could also try the mirror paint they sell. I thought about that, but went with black.
The lens itself works well for spinning, but the 5" one I linked would be great for it.
