DubharmonicRoger, thanks for the info. I'm actually mostly planning on using this on the move, and im tired of my classic iphone headphones, but dont have the desire to have many different headphones for different purposes. To that end, can you suggest the best carrying case for these headphones?
ChristosHendezThe TH-X00 are not easy to move around in. They're huge and have a long, heavy cable with a 1/4" plug. I keep my TH-X00 in a Seahorse SE-430 Case.
My personal favorites for travel are the Grado SR-80. They don't even need an amp to sound good.
ChristosHendezThese are not truly sealed headphones. I wouldn't recommend them for a commute/travel for two reasons:
1) You will hear those around you and the drone of whatever you are travelling in/on
2) Those next to you will hear your music
If you are looking for a portable solution, my holy grail has been found in the Audeze Sine, that one is currently available on Amazon for less than 400 and ships immediately. It's also significantly more portable AND fully sealed. Downside is it is "on-ear" but the vast majority of my ears actually fit inside the pads.
ChristosHendezIf you are looking for some of the best sounding portable headphones in this pricerange and you know you want over or on ear headphones, I think your best bet is probably the Oppo digital PM-3. They seal out outside noise very well for headphones without active noise cancelling, sound great (give much more expensive headphones a run for their money), fold flat, and are almost universally well reviewed.
These TH-X00 are supposed to be superb for home use, especially at this price. Reviews by some of the most well respected names in the headphone community like Jude, the founder of head-fi, have said they would recommend them even if they were much more expensive.
