Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. To begin with "Quantity is limited" simply means a hard number between 0 and infinite. Massdrop can have 1 or a trillion of these units and the quantity will still be limited. Once all of those units are sold, people who want them new will have to press ‘Request’ until Massdrop gets another batch from Fostex and then there will be a new limited quantity of available units. Fostex is not endlessly making these. They are only making them as long as Massdrop can provide demand for another order. The term you are looking for is actually limited edition or production run.
Secondly, Massdrop has been up front since the beginning that they will continue trying to provide new batches until everyone who wants one, has one. If any individuals ignored this and continued with their own delusions that this was a limited production run or limited edition, that is entirely their fault and no one else’s, definitely not due to any fault of Massdrop. Great headphones should never be limited run/edition.
Lastly, how stupid is it to buy headphones not for how great they sound, but on the belief that they are a limited production run or limited edition of Fostex headphones. Headphones are not clothes or shoes or jewelry. They are not a fashion statement. You can buy fashionable headphones, but ultimately the primary purpose is still listening to music.
